Last Saturday, our trainees joined the communities of Nyamweru and Ruhengeri Villages in Nyarugenge District for Umuganda. Together, they cleaned road drainages, enhancing a healthier and safer environment. They also constructed kitchen gardens, ensuring access to nutritious produce at home, and built eco-friendly stoves to promote sustainable living.

Celebrating Organizations that are championing the cause for sustainable development in #Zimbabwe.
Mukana Sustainable Development is an organization Founded by Nikki B..
The name Mukana is a #shona word which translates to #opportunity.
Mukana Sustainable Development are on a mission to plant an #indigenous woodlot that will be sustainably managed. Mukana Sustainable Development’s vision is to see schools in Zimbabwe and elsewhere develop #sustainably, embracing #regenerative practices.
“The Tree of the Year (TOY) is Vachellia Xanthophlora/ Acacia Fever Tree/ Muunga. This will form a woodlot at Nyamasanga Primary School together with the Red Mahogany, Mukamba and many other species. We also championed the planting of an agro-fruit forest comprising of different fruit varieties.
Climatically and environmentally, the world is in so much pain and we are, as much, to blame for what we have become. Everyday, we see people cutting down trees, especially, indigenous trees that have taken so many years to grow for firewood, curing tobacco and even unsustainable National de-bushing and many other things. Let us look for other sustainable ways and regenerate our forests- hands off our forests!” - Audrey Simbiso Chidawanyika, MBA#sustainabledevelopment#mukana#treeplanting#climatechangesolutions

Celebrating International Forest Day!
Forests are essential not only for our planet's health but also for the well-being of local communities. On this #forestday, we explore the concept of community-led governance and its important role in ensuring the sustainability of our forests and the prosperity of those who rely on them.
Community-led governance means empowering local communities to have a say in the management of their landscapes through strong governance structures. At Planet Indonesia, we are committed to supporting communities in establishing Conservation Cooperatives (CCs), which enable them to efficiently manage their resources and enhance human well-being.
But it's more than just managing forests; it's about governance. We believe that transparent, participatory, and adaptive governance institutions are essential for long-term success in conservation and community development.
Stay tuned for our next post as we continue to explore this important topic.

On June 21, 2024, TCM Corporation Public Company Limited, together with its executives, employees, and Care the Wild partners, organized a CSR activity under the project "Plant Trees to Create Forests."
This collaboration involved four parties: TCMC, the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the Royal Forest Department, and the Ban Sok Luek community, who together planted 10 rai of forest at the Ban Sok Luek community forest in Kabok Tia Subdistrict, Noen Kham District, Chai Nat Province.
This being able to use carbon credits to reduce its carbon emissions by 10%, this project also raises awareness about climate change among employees at all levels of the organization. Furthermore, it helps the surrounding communities to rely on and benefit from this forest.

Transforming cooking practices in Cambodia 🌍🔥
The Smoke-Free Village Project (SFV) is changing cooking practices in rural Cambodia. With over 60% of households relying on firewood, the project, led by SNV with support from Energising Development (EnDev) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, addresses indoor air pollution, health risks, and deforestation.
By combining behaviour change communication with community engagement, SFV creates healthier, more sustainable living environments. Targeting 500 villages across four provinces, the project aims to introduce clean cooking solutions to half a million people by 2025.
Research in Kampot province has shown a 30% increase in clean cooking practices among primary cooks in smoke-free villages. This result highlights the powerful impact of local, culturally tailored interventions in improving health and sustainability. Learn more in our recent blog:

A law should be passed to allow wildlife to eat people. There are an astonishing 5.7 million humans for each predator left on Earth! If a predator kills even one person, they are usually hunted down and killed. 🐅
Just to be clear; for every individual tiger on earth, there are 5.7 million people! For every white shark on earth, there are 5.7 million people! For every African lion, there are 5.7 million people! 😮 Think about that for a second. It’s impossible to even picture 5.7 million people. To put it into greater perspective, that’s about the population of the country of Finland, which ranks 118th in country population.
UPDATE: The #Tiger Conservation Coalition will hold a virtual press briefing ahead of the Sustainable Finance for Tiger Landscapes Conference in Bhutan.
