Mental Health Awareness Week 💚 Even in the year of 2024, mental health still isn’t spoken about enough. We are all getting so much better at opening up and sharing our experiences and supporting one another but there is still a taboo about the subject. However, more and more progress is being made to raise awareness and reduce the stigma about mental health. Self-care is so important when it comes to mental health and sometimes the small things can have way more of an impact than we realise. Here are a few things I really focus on to help my mental health day to day and that over the past couple of months have really helped when feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed. -reading a book -drinking enough water -going for a walk -getting 8 hours sleep a night -spending time with loved ones -self care/pamper evenings Always talk to someone about how you are feeling whether it's family or friends or a helpline, there is always someone there who can help. You are never alone with how you feel! Check in on your loved ones. Check in on the quiet friends and those who put on a strong front. Mental health affects everyone and together, we can support one another to be better and feel better.💚

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! For many years, I have struggled with anxiety, and I know I'm not alone. This month, I want to bring awareness to the countless individuals who are silently battling their own mental health challenges. Anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses are not signs of weakness but rather complex conditions that require understanding, compassion, and support. It's crucial to break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a culture where people feel comfortable seeking help without shame or judgment. It's time to normalize conversations about mental well-being, encourage open dialogue, and provide access to resources that can empower individuals to manage their mental health effectively. Let's work together to create a world where every person feels supported, valued, and empowered to prioritize their mental health. Remember, you are not alone, and there is hope.

💚 What I learnt about mental health over the years is that it is always linked to traumas related to a situation, relationship, an event or environment, always. I believe that not everyone is equipped to deal with loved ones whether family, friends, peers or clients who go through mental health issues or periods of. Here are some tips: ✅ Bringing them into the present moment helps alleviating anxiety and depression ✅ Be compassionate, kind and very patient, they repeat patterns of pain ❌ Don’t be hard or tough with someone going through it, it’s not helpful ✅ If suicidal, seek help and put them on watch, gather the right people around. ❌ Telling them to snap out of it is not helpful but cruel, if they could they would ✅ Choose your words carefully when communicating, they are more sensitive ✅ Get them to do something for others as it helps them to feel worthy, valued ❌ Cheering or sharing with them alcohol or much of it won’t help, it masks the pain ✅ Making them feel heard, understood and loved are good for their mind and body ✅ Brighten their day with a sense of humour, something that lifts their spirit This week, on mental health week I chose the theme of “sense of humour”. Thank you for reading 🙏

**🌿 Mental Health Awareness & Self-Care 🌿 - Noreen’s Dance Collaborative! Taking care of our mental health is just as important as taking care of our physical health. Life can get overwhelming, and it’s easy to put our own well-being on the back burner. But remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential. Whether it’s taking a few minutes to meditate, going for a walk, or simply allowing yourself to rest, these small acts of kindness towards yourself can make a big difference in your overall well-being. Let’s break the stigma around mental health and remind each other that it’s okay to ask for help, to take breaks, and to prioritize our own needs. You matter, and your mental health matters. Take a moment today to check in with yourself. How are you really feeling? What do you need right now? Give yourself permission to take that step towards self-care. We’re all in this together. 💚

Clutter and mess can create more stress and anxiety, but by cleaning, organising, and reducing the clutter, it will create a more relaxing environment. Talking about mental health takes a lot of vulnerability. Today I had the opportunity to co-host D2L’s mental health panel. We got to hear from 5 amazing fellow D2Lers who bravely raised their hands to talk about their personal experiences with mental health. They shared their stories of the challenges they faced, the frustrations they felt, and the support they found helpful. Their stories displayed so much strength and resilience! There is a constant stigma surrounding mental health and with this stigma being present it tends to stop people from talking about it and seeking help. Some key points that I learned from this panel: 🌱 Be kind to yourself. 🌱 Healing is a journey, not a destination. 🌱 It’s okay to feel multiple emotions at one time. 🌱 Practice self-compassion, give yourself grace. Talking about mental health is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to help end the stigma! I am very grateful that D2L holds this panel, and I am honoured to be a part of the movement.
