🧠 Lessons from my YesYear: Learning to Learn Again After 25 years in Marketing & Business, this year I decided to follow my passion and take a leap into a Masters in Neuroscience. Turns out, my brain wasn't as enthusiastic—replaying my Neurobiology and Neuroanatomy lectures at least 7️⃣ times each lesson was a real brain workout—starting to look like a "NO year," not a “Yes" year! I put in an SOS call to my professor for help. Their wisdom was a game-changer: "You're rewiring your brain! Ditch the ego and embrace being a student again. Building neuroplasticity takes time – it may even take 10 listens of each lecture, but that might be what you have to do!" Challenge accepted! 💪 Intrigued, I began researching and found Professor Huberman's neuroplasticity super protocols and learned the “learning bout,” i.e., the lecture, is just the beginning. Sleep and non-sleep-deep-rest (NSDR) are crucial for the real learning—that's when our brains rewire! This is contrary to my university days 30 years ago, where sleep was definitely not part of my learning protocol. So I revamped my study routine: 90 minutes of focused learning followed by 20 minutes of rest (Yoga Nidra is amazing for NSDR). The result? Passed Semester 1! (Now, just two more semesters to go!) Anyone else facing a learning curve? What techniques are helping you conquer new territory? 🔗Huberman’s Neuroplasticity super protocol - https://lnkd.in/garWgrQt 🔗Rethink Education - The Biology of learning - https://lnkd.in/gcTcS7UG #YesYear #NeuroscienceJourney #LearningToLearn #Neuroplasticity

What a sensation! Hearing, seeing, doing, tasting, touching … it’s all good. Engaging multiple senses simultaneously engages the brain by activating different brain regions and creating more neural connections, which can increase brain capacity and plasticity. It also can help us encode and recall information more effectively, as well as make the information more meaningful and memorable. Multisensory learning is not just a cool trick; it’s a brain bonanza! It's like giving your brain a playground for all its senses, leading to deeper learning and lasting neural connections. #SkillsEducation #EducationMatters #learning #funfacts #advent #MultisensoryLearning #BrainBasedLearning #ChristmasCountdown

Human decision-making has been the focus of a wide range of research studies. Yet, very few talk about Hedonic Tone to understand better how people make different types of everyday choices while shedding light on the neural processes underpinning these choices. https://lnkd.in/g_rdDZKE

While the study itself and its application of machine learning are interesting, I'm curious what you see as the potential applications of determining occupational proficiencies and cognitive traits might be? I like to think I'm an optimist, but my mind is leaning toward more dystopian applications for this one. Help give me hope with some positive use cases. https://lnkd.in/grUSzEab
