I recently had the pleasure of speaking to CNA Lifestyle’s Khoo Bee Khim about one of my favourite topics in the R&D space: the ingredients that make up our personal care products. From haircare to oral health products, we talked about the science behind using specific ingredients in the formulations. Take mouthwashes, for instance. Did you know that adding alcohol to mouthwashes goes beyond killing germs? It also acts as a solvent for stabilising active ingredients and helps to preserve the integrity of the formula while on shelves. That said, we do understand that alcohol-based mouthwash isn’t for everyone. That's why our teams at LISTERINE® have developed non-alcohol variants that use a blend of emulsifiers and surfactants to dissolve the active ingredients - the essential oils - effectively.
