PLMA Amsterdam or PLMA Chicago - which is a better trade show? That is the question I heard from many folks I met over the last couple of days in Amsterdam. I suppose the answer largely depends on your purpose for being at the show in the first place. If you’re an exhibitor looking for customers in North America, PLMA Amsterdam won’t help you with that. Conversly, you’ll be hard pressed to find European sales channels by exhibiting in Chicago. If you represent a sales channel or a brand and are looking to find a producer of a particular product, I must say that PLMA Amsterdam is a better choice. The show is larger, many categories are better presented in terms of variety, capabilities, capacity and so on. What’s also noteworthy is that exhibitors from the US and Canada are virtually non existent at PLMA Amsterdam. Perhaps Europe offers more cost-effective producers and manufacturing in North America is simply too costly. Maybe producers in the US and Canada are mainly focused on manufacturing their own brands. Or, could it be that the US economy is still posting growth in consumer spending month after month and the industry is too busy meeting the demands of the domestic market… whatever the case I think it’s an interesting dynamic that European presence in Chicago is prevalent every year while US is largely absent in Amsterdam from both exhibitor and attendee sides.

The 2024 'World Map of Exhibition Venues' from UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry & jwc is out now. The report provides key insights on 1,432 venues across 22 markets featuring a whopping 43.1 million sqm of indoor exhibition space. For the first time Asia-Pacific now has the most exhibition space (16.6 million sqm), closely followed by Europe (15.8 million sqm). Following positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors to OTS over the last three years, the organisers are pleased to announce the venue dates until 2027. The future dates for the Outdoor Trade Show (OTS) have been finalised for the next three years to keep OTS at the popular venue of the Exhibition Centre, Liverpool. Following the show this year from 18th - 20th June and avoiding a future clash with ISPO in Germany, OTS will take place on the following dates over the next three years:   2025 - 10th - 12th June 2026 - 2nd - 4th June 2027 - 1st - 3rd June   Liverpool is increasingly becoming a desirable venue for exhibitions, conferences and events with many trade and consumer shows choosing the popular venue, so it was important for the longevity of the show to secure future dates which align with buying deadlines as well as giving exhibitors and trade visitors plenty advance notice of the dates to make plans.
