We believe that everyone’s happier outside. According to The People and Nature survey, 82% of adults in England said being in nature made them very happy and 92% agreed spending time outdoors was good for their mental health. We’re proud to partner with organisations like the National Trust who protect and preserve areas of natural beauty and ensure they are accessible for all. On World Mental Health Day we unite behind the powerful theme, “Mental health is a universal human right”. 🤝💙 It’s a moment for people and communities worldwide to come together, enhance knowledge, raise awareness, and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as an undeniable human right. Earlier this year Austroads released a groundbreaking report on Road Transport Suicide Prevention, shedding light on an often overlooked issue. 🛣️❤️ Did you know that 1-7% of motor vehicle fatalities in Australia might be due to intentional actions? But with better communication and safety measures, we can lower this stat! Let’s talk openly about mental health, break down barriers, and prioritise safety. Your awareness can truly save lives!

One way to integrate patients’ experience in reforming (mental) health services:
Stigma and discrimination related to mental health conditions is everywhere, even in emergency rooms. Not only does it cause preventable suffering in people when they are vulnerable, it erodes trust in health care staff and health care institutions in general. Denmark’s national anti-stigma programme ONE OF US is a powerful example of how stigma can be effectively reduced. WHO/Europe worked with them to produce a case study documentary on their work. Watch the documentary here: https://lnkd.in/dR-cHf4F For more information on ONE OF US, visit their website: https://lnkd.in/djk5UzZC

Inner wellbeing is as important as the physical and it deserves to become a prominent issue in the public health agenda. Nearly 1/3 of countries lack dedicated mental health budgets. Even in countries that allocate funds, 21% spend less than 1% of their total health budgets on mental health. This is shocking when 1 in 4 people experience mental health issues. For that reason, we at The Leprosy Mission International don't focus only on leprosy. Our teams offer diverse services, from medical support to education and counselling. Genuine transformation requires more than treatment—it demands nurturing caring relationships. In doing so, we are working to #BeatNTDs.
