Nature, beauty, history. For everyone, for ever.

About us

We all have a place we love. A place that inspires us. A place with its own unique and particular atmosphere. We were created to help people make the most of these very special places - and the good things that come from them. We're independent of Government and receive no direct grant or subsidy for our core work. Instead, our future depends on the active support and generosity of 5.8 million members, 20 million visitors, 60,000 volunteers and over 11000 people who work with us (as well as thousands who help us seasonally), as well as benefactors, tenants and other partners. Today, we're Europe's largest conservation organisation, with huge - and incredibly varied - responsibilities. We protect and welcome everyone to explore and enjoy some 709 miles of coastline, 250,000 hectares of land of outstanding natural beauty, 104 nature reserves, 6 World Heritage Sites. We also look after spectacular houses and gardens and one of the world’s largest and most significant holdings of fine art and heritage objects. We want every one of our visitors to enjoy these amazing places and have an experience they'll never forget. We want them to try something they've never tried before, to gain a unique glimpse into the past and, ultimately, to love these special places as much as we do. We interrupt your feed with an official invite to take a break with blossom 🌸 These tiny blooms can make a massive difference to your day. From boosting your mood to reducing stress, there’s no end to the benefits of nature, which is why we’re inviting you to step away from your screen and take a break with blossom this spring. It can be a five-minute breather or a longer break. You can invite colleagues, pets or go solo. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the countryside, a city or somewhere in between: you can find blossom anywhere. All you have to do is reap the benefits of nature and plan a Big Blooming Break that suits you. How to get involved: 🌸 Download your free guide to The Big Blooming Break: https://lnkd.in/eK43QCR7 🌸 Pop a note in your calendar to remind you to take your break.  🌸 Click ‘attend’ on this event and share it with any colleagues, friends or family who you think would benefit from a quick pause surrounded by blossom. 🌸 Enjoy your break and take notice of how blossom makes you feel. Share your experience with us using #BlossomWatch.    Why spend a moment with blossom?    After the dark days of winter, spring sprouts little moments of joy to lift our spirits. We’re encouraging you to get out and grab those moments when you can. When you live a busy life in a busy place, sometimes it’s hard to feel close to nature. So, make time for yourself and pencil in a moment to enjoy blossom this spring.

  • Celebrating Women in Conservation at Holnicote! This #InternationalWomensDay, we were thrilled to host an inspiring event at Holnicote Estate, shining a spotlight on the incredible women who care for our landscapes. From protecting ancient woodlands to nurturing blossom and freshwater habitats, our team shared their passion and expertise, alongside colleagues from Exmoor National Park. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the vital role women play in conservation. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us - great conversations, insightful talks, and of course, plenty of tea, coffee, and cake! ☕🍰 #NationalTrustJobs #IWD #WomenInConservation #SpeciesSurvivalFund  #TogetherForOurPlanet
