#Opinion Despite the growing evidence on the impact of climate change, we see limited CSR and philanthropic investments integrating a climate lens. But this is crucial to ensure that their interventions are resilient and relevant in a warming world. Important takeaway from this ClimateWorks Foundation report: Increased funding is essential, but not enough. Collaboration is key to advancing transformative climate solutions. Pooled funds, like Agroecology Fund, have a compounding effect and channel funding to create a bigger, faster, and more focused impact. In our case, we've been building relationships with grassroots movements for more than a decade and are able to connect funders to support work that matters to those most impacted by the climate crisis. Our trust-based funding model centers equitable, transformative solutions. Let's radically increase funding to grassroots agroecoloical solutions to the multi-crises of climate, poverty, and hunger. According to the United Nations' Secretary-General António Guterres, we must respond to the threat of extreme heat by "massively increasing access to low-carbon cooling, expanding passive cooling, and cleaning up cooling technologies while boosting their efficiency." In response to António Guterres' call to action on extreme heat, philanthropic funders are uniting to help address the severe and escalating threats posed by extreme heat to health, workers and livelihoods, infrastructure, food security, and more in communities worldwide. A group of philanthropies convened by ClimateWorks Foundation is catalyzing an initiative for philanthropy to invest an initial commitment of $50 million in climate adaptation and resilience efforts in regions most vulnerable to climate change impacts, including extreme heat. Report Outlines Which Companies Are Most Responsible for Climate Crisis "It is morally reprehensible for companies to continue expanding exploration and production of carbon fuels in the face of knowledge now for decades that their products are harmful," said Richard Heede, who established the Carbon Majors dataset. THOR BENSON A report released by Carbon Majors on Thursday says that 57 companies were responsible for 80% of the world's CO2 emissions from fossil fuel and cement production between 2016 to 2022. Saudi Aramco, Russia's state-owned energy company Gazprom, and state-owned producer Coal India were at the top of the list. Carbon Majors has been keeping track of which companies are contributing the most to the climate crisis since 2013. "The Carbon Majors research shows us exactly who is responsible for the lethal heat, extreme weather, and air pollution that is threatening lives and wreaking havoc on our oceans and forests," Tzeporah Berman, international program director at Stand.earth and chair at Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, said in a statement. "These companies have made billions of dollars in profits while denying the problem and delaying and obstructing climate policy." Read on at https://lnkd.in/e7h4Nxre.

We need to drive Philanthropic endeavours to include Sustainability and Climate Mitigation. All these foundations must understand; without a healthy planet, all their mission driven causes become pointless. Collectively they have deployed approximately US$19Bn to worthy causes such as health and Education But none of them have deployed any significant amount in Climate Change

For People and Planet – Climate Justice for All. Global Greengrants Fund UK is participating in this year’s Big Give #GreenMatchFund, where you can double your impact as your donation will be matched by the Big Give, up to £10,000! Why grassroots-led climate justice? We live in a world where grassroots communities are most impacted by the climate crisis yet contribute the least to global carbon emissions. These communities are not only losing their land, natural resources and livelihoods at an accelerating rate, but their centuries of experience stewarding their natural environments – and their solutions to the climate crisis – are often disregarded or overlooked. Global Greengrants Fund channels funding and mentorship support directly to the best and most sustainable solutions to climate change and environmental degradation, all designed and led by communities most affected by these challenges. Today we ask you to help us power more locally-led climate action. Double your support today by donating to our Big Give campaign here: https://lnkd.in/ermSeSCr If you’re not in a position to donate but are able to share our campaign with your networks, please do!
