BREAKING: Two new fire ant nests have been discovered in Meringandan West, north of Toowoomba. 🚨 We're running out of time to protect our native wildlife and communities from these tiny killers. If we're going to get eradication back on track, the state and federal governments must implement the recommendations from the recent senate inquiry into fire ants. We need ✅ more community outreach, education and advertising, ✅ increased fire ant checks and compliance and ✅ additional funding and resources.

Have you ever noticed how a tidy and organized community makes everyone feel happier and more connected? If you're looking for a way to bring your community together and make a positive impact, organizing a community cleanup day is the perfect solution! Plus, it's a wonderful way to teach children the importance of taking care of the environment and instill a sense of civic responsibility. Helping nonprofits and businesses worldwide maximize their impact through marketing & communications and capacity-building.
Animals in the wild, such as lions and elephants, inherently understand the power of community. Lions rely on their prides not only to hunt and secure food but, most importantly, to protect their vulnerable cubs from the countless unforgiving threats in the wilderness. Similarly, the larger an elephant's family, the better protection it offers its calves. Even the most ferocious lion prides of the Kalahari wouldn’t dare attack a calf guarded by a full herd of elephants or buffaloes. This communal approach to child upbringing is universal across the animal kingdom, humans included. Historically, human beings have always depended on the strength and support of their larger community to raise their offspring. Even when adversity struck and a child lost their parents, the community stepped in, proving that while a mother's love is unmatched, the collective love of a community is formidable. However, in recent times, humans have drifted from this innate communal instinct. We raise our children secluded behind perimeter walls, often introducing them to the bigger world mainly through digital screens and social media. One could argue this is due to safety concerns in our modern societies, which is largely true. To ensure holistic development of our children, we must reconnect with our innate sense of community. This includes building environments where our children can flourish, shielded by the collective strength of a united society. Like the lion in its pride and the elephant in its herd, we thrive best when surrounded by supportive friends. #MineLetters

Three months into our new strategic plan, and check! Progress being made. Like most strategic plans, the proof's in the pudding. Plans aren't made to sit on a shelf. I'm super proud of the OHS team, who's making sure that doesn't happen. One of the pillars of the new strategic plan is to provide more second changes for all animals - and our community was pretty specific: they're concerned about homeless cats. So, we need to find out more, to figure out how best to help. Ottawa connections - can you help? YOU ONLY NEED ONE MINUTE! To achieve our goal, we've launched a very quick survey about outdoor cats. Well over a thousand responses to date - but our goals are lofty - we want five thousand! Help me out and respond yourself, and share the link! I look forward to sharing the results, both with our community and to the humane sector! https://lnkd.in/dZQp_G_a
