A camera that uses AI to only takes photos when your eyes are closed. The Terrible Ideas Hackathon is fast becoming our favourite way to help people experience the magic of entrepreneurship. In our 2024 Terrible Ideas Hackathon over 100 students spent a manic 48 hours using the Michael Crouch Innovation Centre Makerspace (think laser cutters, 3D printers and soldering) to bring their absurd ideas to life. There is always a better way to do things, and sometimes to get there you have to first try a much worse way! What I love about this hackathon is that it lowers the barrier to starting all the way to the floor - everyone has at least one terrible new idea! It teaches people the value of starting and shipping a first prototype, even if your idea isn't perfect. Special thanks to Hayden Moore, Hamish McFarlane, Matt Macdonald, Nina Juhl and the whole team for making this such a fun and engaging experience for the UNSW Founders community! #entrepreneurship
