As we come close to the year end of another professional sports cycle, once again I've been remembered that team work, organizational values and working towards something bigger than yourself are the only true ways to achieve Real success.
Much is said these days on personal development, individual skills, and those small things that make each of us unique. And in a sea of solo players, influencers, and individualism, the question remains: why we do what we do? If the answer can't convey a larger community purpose and values larger than ourselves, then success will only be temporary and in many times questionably arbitrary.
That is when sports come to play a role in the popular consciousness. The constant reminder that glory is achieved in team, and that purpose is only relevant when it serves the group and not just the individual.
7 Champions League titles difference (double) separates Real Madrid (14) from Milan (7), and more from other great clubs such as Liverpool (6), Bayern (6) or Barcelona (5). But what truly separates Real Madrid from other sport organizations is a way of being, a series of values that promote team play over any individuality, where last-names are respected and celebrated as long as they serve to the common purpose, a team that is owned by its members and not large financial institutions.
There is a fantastic business book that I would recommend any team leader to check out: The Real Madrid Way: How Values Created the Most Successful Sports Team on the Planet
I hope you have the chance to follow the rest of the Champions League and that we encourage new generations to experience the magic of team goals, team work, and team success.
Darts has arrived, but it’s what happens next that matters…
Professional Darts Corporation CEO Matthew Porter revealed what is driving the mass engagement and what needs to be done to ensure the attention influx sustains on this week’s Business of Sport
Key Takeaways 🔥
📺 The audience is huge, and has been growing for years
The Luke Littler effect has brought more light to the sport, yet the appetite for darts is nothing new…
BUT the hype feels different now. Build an established entity not a flash in the pan.
✨ Players becoming brands
Van Gerwen, Price, Littler, Smith. The players are building profiles and darts will reap the rewards of individual celebrity.
🤑 More prize money = more opportunity
Pumping more money into tournaments allows more players to view darts as the financially viable career path needed to build a sustainable ecosystem.
🤝 Build credibility through sponsorships?
Does darts have a perception issue? Credibility can be built through partnerships established. The darts audience is a valuable and increasingly diverse group not to be neglected.
🌍 This is a global sport!
It may have deep association with UK, but there’s hundreds of thousands of players from Japan to Australia to Malaysia to the US, ready to test themselves at the highest level.

A stadium can be an advantage or a problem.
Why?
👉 The stadium is the home of the club.
It's much more than a place to sit for 100 minutes.
✅ A competitive advantage
A stadium owned by the club:
✔ Increases revenues
✔ Raises the level of the entertainment experience
✔ Builds fan loyalty
👉 The way we experience stadiums will change in the coming years.
✅ The average age of stadiums
☑ England: 35 years
☑ Germany: 38 years
☑ Italy: 68 years
✅ Stadiums Owned by the Clubs
☑ England: +80%
☑ Germany: +80%
☑ Italy: 24%
Not every club can afford a new stadium, but it must be the number one goal of all clubs.
❓What is your favorite stadium?
