What's on your hospital's floors? A study in The American Journal of Infection Control found hospital floors were often contaminated with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and VRE, as well as Clostridium difficile. Resinous and seamless floors help eliminate places for bacteria to hide, and can be thoroughly cleaned to reduce the spread of these types of bacteria and others. #DurAFlexFloors #resinousfloors #seamlessfloors #hospitalfloors

The first day at APIC was a hit. Here is a Day 1 update: - There seem to be fewer exhibitors than previous APIC conferences. APIC correct me if I'm wrong! - The overall quality of exhibitors is higher. Most of the device/antimicrobial companies in attendance are top-tier offerings with good science behind their claims. - Hospitals can now choose from a great assortment of C. diff killing germicides with low contact times. - Fewer quats being marketed to healthcare, more hypochlorous acid and hydrogen peroxide formulations on display. - There is a lot of action around single-use medical devices, even endoscopes. - Lots of interest in using genetic technologies to trace hospital outbreaks to their source - UV is now a well established, well-accepted tool in the infection control toolbox and lots of companies are engaging with FDA due to recent regulatory changes. - Air filtration devices being marketed heavily, with prime real estate on the show floor. - There is a greater focus on hospital water quality than before, everything from water for steam to water for sterile processing - Data to substantiate claims is no longer a "nice to have," it's a must for IC professionals.
Microchem is at APIC 24! Stop by booth #643 to meet our team and discuss infection control. See you there! Benjamin Tanner Cade Dunavant Victoria Zarate Madhuri Patil

A sealed platform for infection control. The cushioning on the CH5 Mobilise chair is easily removed and there are no gaps for fluids to get trapped, making it far easier to clean. An easy to clean surface - no screwheads or rivets. https://lnkd.in/eP-esjkn #NHS #deepclean

Nancy Robinson and Tamra Behm discussed their study with us, featured in the American Journal of Infection Control, which investigated the efficacy of flexible endoscope drying using novel test tools that allow direct visualization of the internal channel systems. Surprisingly, the study found that flushing channels with alcohol took longer to dry than rinsing with water alone, challenging the common assumption that alcohol aids in the drying process. Have you read it? Alright infection control experts we’re hoping you all have the answers to a great question Karen P. asked on one of our posts. Whether it’s a banner, flag, or a guy named Jeff that sounds by the door, we want to hear how you’re alerting staff and family that the patient is in isolation. Feel free to comment with pictures! #isolation #infectioncontrol #jeff #bestpractices
