The data in the Charity Resilience Index report released recently by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and referenced below will come as no surprise to anyone connected with the third sector but the data is stark: • 86% of charities say that demand for their services has increased • 88% expect demand to continue to rise • 50% cite increased competition for funding or donations • 28% are not confident they can meet future demand In short, more demand and less funding available to support the charities that are responding to the needs of the people who come to them for support. Technology is one of the few things that can make a meaningful difference to a charity's ability to make its resources go further, reducing the overhead of inefficient processes within the organisation and allowing it to focus the time and energy of its people on the highest value activities. #SkilledVolunteers can make this happen and companies with tech talent in their organisations can create meaningful, long-lasting social value and social impact while supporting their talent attraction, development and retention strategies. The Tech for Good Alliance provides a framework and a supporting service that makes this possible more quickly and at lower cost than having to build a programme from scratch in-house. Join Forces. We've just released the latest findings from our ongoing research into how charities are navigating sustained economic and social challenges. We surveyed 784 charity leaders to understand the real-world pressures they face: ➡️ 86% of charities report a rise in demand, with almost all expecting this to continue ➡️ Over 25% aren’t confident they can meet future demand, especially those without diverse or predictable funding ➡️ Charity leaders are spending 75% of their time firefighting day-to-day challenges CAF’s Head of Impact and Advisory, Ashling Cashmore, emphasises the need for collective action: "We need to work together to create a stable environment for our hard-working charities and those they support. The new Government has said it wants to reset its relationship with civil society and an important next step would be to introduce a national strategy for philanthropy and charitable giving to make sure charities receive the support they desperately need.” Explore the full findings from this release: https://lnkd.in/eZuV6s4A #CharityResilience #Charities #CharitySupport

The latest findings from CAF's Charity Resilience Index highlight the critical challenges charities are facing today. With 86% of charities experiencing increased demand and 28% unsure about meeting future needs, it’s clear that we need to support our charitable sector more than ever. What can companies do? Well, committing to donating at least 1% of their pre-tax profits would be a great start. If every company did this, charities could receive an extra £5 billion a year!!

As the long awaited first budget of the new Labour Government fast approaches I thought it pertinent to share the latest research from my colleagues with CAF on Charity Resilience. With key headlines from the research being increased demand and less money to go around there is clearly some challenges ahead. Full details of the research can be found below. #cafbank #charitiesaidfoundation #bankingwithpurpose

Reports like this should make us all hang our heads in shame. Some eye-opening statistics: The number of children in residential care in England has doubled over the past 12 years. it now stands at over 80,000 children (almost the same amount that is in our prisons) currently in care in England, a number that continues to rise. 70% of children in care have experienced abuse or neglect. 1 in 10 children in England have a diagnosable mental health condition. Call it what you want but continual cuts to vital services have exacerbated the problem. These are services which can prevent crises before they escalate, offering timely support to families and ensuring children can stay in safe, loving homes. Studies have shown that investing in early intervention can save up to £9 for every £1 spent by reducing the need for more intensive services later on. Doesn't every child deserves the chance to grow up in a stable, nurturing environment?
