#TuesdayTip💡 Don't ask your recruiter to send you 'any suitable roles you think might fit.' This is basically the same as asking a chef to serve you 'any dish you think is good.' Please be specific as it helps US help YOU better. Specify your preferred job titles, industries, and work preferences/locations. The more details you provide, the more accurately we can match you with opportunities that truly align with your skills and career goals. I'm seeking advice from my experienced connections on a career transition challenge. With a background in Restaurant Management, including roles as Manager, General Manager, and Director, I am now transitioning to the Technology industry, focusing on entry to associate level restaurant point of sale technical support. I've faced rejections due to job titles/experience on my resume being to advanced for the positions that I am applying for. I have omitted some of my work history, even though the duties and accomplishments would be relevant just to stay within the recommended two pages. How should I address this issue on my resume effectively? #CareerTransition #ResumeAdvice #ProfessionalDevelopment

Job descriptions often contain unnecessary “fluff.” I was looking through a slew of job descriptions for one of my clients, and found that even their basic culinary positions required a culinary degree. The Chef admitted they didn't actually need a degree, yet it was listed. This requirement deterred potential candidates. Removing it doubled the applicant pool. Something insignificant might be keeping you from finding the right team. Here’s a discovery exercise I use for job descriptions. Grab one of your current job descriptions and answer the questions: - What is the position that you’re hiring for? - Without looking at the job description, in plain English, what is the essence of the job? - What competencies matter most to you? (Honesty, calm under pressure, creativity, listening skills, etc) - What are the primary responsibilities of this role? (Less than 10) - What are the day-to-day tasks and activities of the person in this position? - What are the short-term and long-term goals for this position? - How will the success of this role be measured? - What are the expected outcomes for someone in this position over the first 30, 60, 90 days? When crafting a job description, it is important to ask questions that clarify the role's requirements, expectations, and how it fits within the organization. If you don't ask for what you want, you'll never get it. If you’re an Executive Chef ready to transform your approach, send me a DM saying INTERESTED to see if we’re the right fit to work together inside “Beyond the Food: Mise en Place for the Executive Chef.”

🌟 Feeling the pain of not being able to place all the stellar candidates I speak to in the food safety, quality, and technical fields! 🌟 As a recruiter specializing in food safety, quality assurance, and technical roles, I have the privilege of connecting with some incredibly talented professionals every day. From seasoned Quality Assurance Managers to meticulous Food Safety Experts, the depth of expertise and passion for ensuring product integrity and safety is truly inspiring. #My_shortest_Professional_stint. After graduating from college, one of my first jobs was at a local bakery. Reflecting on that period, it stands out as an intense and challenging experience. The pay was disappointingly low, especially considering the amount of work required. Every shift was physically demanding, leaving me exhausted and drained by the end of the day. Despite only working a total of 16 hours over two days, the experience felt much longer due to the strenuous nature of the job. Each day involved an 8-hour shift filled with various tasks that kept me constantly on my feet. From early morning until the end of my shift, I was engaged in a nonstop cycle of mixing dough, baking bread, and preparing pastries. The work required a significant amount of manual labor, which quickly led to fatigue. The environment was fast-paced and demanding, with little time for breaks. This job, although short-lived, left a lasting impression on me. It was a vivid lesson in the realities of labor-intensive work and the challenges faced by those in low-paying jobs. The bakery job, while brief, taught me important lessons about perseverance and the value of hard work. It also made me appreciate the efforts of workers in similar positions and the physical toll such jobs can take. Although my stint at the bakery was the shortest in my professional journey, spanning only 16hours over two days, it was undoubtedly one of the most memorable due to the intensity and fatigue it involved. #Na_hawajawahi_nilipa_by_the_way, ama 16 hours mtu halipagwi?😂 Shalom Nyerere #Career_Coach_and_CV_Expert
