I know I’m not alone in feeling reassured at how Keir Starmer has chosen to present himself and the Government since taking office last a few days ago. His deliberate efforts with each intervention to appear calm, respectful and purpose-driven is just so refreshing in an understated kind of way. This was clear again in the PM’s message to the civil service yesterday, showing how he wants to positively reset the relationship between officials and ministers after years of friction and a culture of hostility. Rebuilding trust takes time and effort. Showing that you want to build a culture which allows people to feel they can speak up safely and confidently is a powerful starting point for a new leader. As is making teams feel that they are liked and respected. Starmer pitched it beautifully: "Delivering change won’t be easy, you don’t need me to tell you that. It will require a different way of working. One of openness, of collaboration and transparency in everything we do. But from the get go, I want you to know that you have my confidence, my support and, importantly, my respect. Together, as one team, we can deliver our mission of national renewal and change." Words matter. Change is hard - and it takes time, effort and commitment. But if ministers and officials across government lean into openness, collaboration, transparency and respect, that would be another mission well worth delivering.

We've achieved some great milestones: 👥 18 staff: Proud to have been the first member of staff taken on by the founding partners, and now we’ve grown to a team of 18! 🌍 18,000 sites: Identified fantastic development opportunities throughout the UK. 📬 40,000 letters: We typically receive a response rate of around 18%. 💾 1.3M datapoints: The data we hold on development opportunities is now much richer. 📊 60+ average live sites: Typically hold 60+ qualified, off-market acquisition opportunities at a given time. I'm proud to be part of this innovative and dynamic team, and I'm optimistic about the future potential of this business. A great session with Vistage UK Key Group looking at the different generations. Labels are incredibly useful as they can help short circuit our learning and understanding. Too often however, I believe that generational labels are used in a pejorative, detrimental way, issued as a judgement passed with an accompanying eye-roll. "They" are different, but so were you at that age and so you will be when you reach that age. The session today was about pealing back the layers and seeking to understand... understand how the different values exhibited by people of different ages influences why they act in the way they do. There is no "wrong" or "right" here. It just is, and by being curious and seeking to understand we can harness the benefits of each generation to make work better for everyone. #GenerationGame #Learning #Diversity #Understand #ImagineThinkDO
