A recent article @Telegraph addresses a report from the Welsh government that finds that four-day week models of work could be racist because "they discriminate against 'frontline' public sector workers". At Timewise, we welcome the Welsh Government's recognition of disparities in access to enabling working patterns, including hybrid and #fourdayweek options, and how these can intensify social and racial inequalities. However, instead of closing the door on the four-day working week, let’s keep trialling a range of #flexibleworking options to find those that are beneficial for site-based and shift-based workers and 24/7 services. Our work shows how important it is that we continue to innovate and share learnings to ensure all workers have a degree of autonomy and control over their working pattern.
