🌍✨ Meet Yasmin Jones-Henry, the host of this year’s Cornwall & Devon summit. Seamlessly straddling the worlds of fashion, finance, and culture, we can't think of a better-suited host for this year's event. As a thought leader in sustainability pratices, Yas has built a career dedicated to showcasing how culture and creative enterprise can drive inclusive regeneration, as well as pushing for more circular economy principles in retail. As co-founder of The Lab E20 at @eastvillageldn, she’s nurturing the next generation of sustainable fashion entrepreneurs alongside designer @christopher.raeburn. Together, they’re innovating for a more circular and inclusive future. 💚 We are so excited to welcome Yas to Plymouth for our summit on 7th Feb! https://hubs.ly/Q033WL7r0 Creative UK

We had the privilege of representing the FHNC at the Cyprus Environment Symposium, where our member Talia Songur spoke about integrating circular economy principles into the fashion industry. At FHNC, our motto is clear: "If our ancestors lived sustainably, why can’t we?" We believe fashion can be a force for good—not only by reducing waste and environmental impact but also by preserving cultural heritage. Through upcycling, sustainable design, and community-based production, we’re proving that creativity and sustainability go hand in hand. Ph: env4cyp.eu

Today, we’re celebrating America Recycles Day—a moment to raise awareness about the importance of recycling in reducing waste and conserving valuable resources. At The RealReal, we believe that a sustainable future for fashion begins with us. Our mission is to reduce the environmental impact of luxury goods by promoting the reuse and recirculation of luxury items. It starts with reducing what we consume, reusing what we can, and recycling what we can't. In fact, 95% of discarded clothing can be re-worn, recycled, or reused—making reuse the most sustainable option! Learn more about the powerful impact that resale can have on fashion’s environmental footprint. ♻️ https://lnkd.in/gdrkGFn

Being ambitious and recognizing the work we have ahead in transforming the fashion industry to meet the expectations of everyone — not least our own aspirations — we strive to be transparent and honest in our communication. We know we are not there yet, and we’re not afraid to point fingers at ourselves. Looking back on last year, we acknowledge the progress we made, but we are also keenly aware that we’re still far from reaching the ambitious goals we’ve set. We won’t celebrate until we achieve them. Today, Økonomisk Ugebrev published a ranking of non-listed companies in Denmark for their sustainability achievements last year, and given everything above, we’re pleased to see ourselves ranked in top alongside VELUX, whose work in sustainability is impressive. At BESTSELLER, we are diligently working on the challenges ahead, fully aware of the complex and difficult path facing us and all companies within consumer goods. We still have a long way to go—and in the coming years, we will increase our efforts further.

𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 I had the pleasure of hosting Marianne Gybels, Senior Director of Sustainability at Vinted, during a session of the INSEAD Sustainability Leadership Programme for Senior Executives. The insights she shared left everyone, including me, feeling truly inspired by the impact Vinted is making. Marianne discussed how Vinted is working to make second-hand fashion the top choice worldwide, with a vision that’s already reshaping sustainability in the fashion industry. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥-𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘰𝘯: Vinted is reducing fashion’s environmental footprint by promoting second-hand purchases. With fashion accounting for 3-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, their members are making a real difference—65% now have at least a quarter of their wardrobe made up of second-hand items. 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦: In 2023 alone, Vinted’s second-hand clothing sales avoided 678,000 tons of CO2 emissions. That’s the equivalent of over 512,000 flights between London and LA—a concrete example of the power of second-hand fashion to reduce our carbon footprint. 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴: Vinted is on a mission to achieve Net Zero by 2050, aiming for a 42% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. They’re leading by example, with plans to decarbonize logistics and transition to 100% renewable energy across their offices and data centers. Marianne’s leadership at Vinted is a reminder that businesses can be powerful agents of environmental change when sustainability is at the core of their mission. If you’re a senior executive looking to align your leadership with sustainability goals, the INSEAD Sustainability Leadership Programme offers a unique opportunity to do just that. ✨Reflecting on a transformative year of stepping into more public-facing speaking opportunities at Ecovative, particularly in moments like our recent #FutureFabricsExpoNYC panel on Fashion and the Climate Crisis. Initial butterflies about discussing climate policy after a contentious presidential election quickly dissolved as our conversation unfolded. Alongside brilliant minds like Dana Thomas, Tricia Carey, Saad Amer, and Shilpa Yarlagadda, we explored challenging topics while maintaining focus on actionable progress. What emerged was a reminder of something I've learned firsthand in my expanded role in Public Affairs: meaningful change happens through relationship building and open conversations. Our success in securing NYS support and federal funding stems from exactly this approach. And while I will always find joy in orchestrating from behind the scenes and empowering my team to shine in their spotlight moments, these new challenges have shown me the power of saying "yes" to growth. Even in uncertain times, there's immense power in focusing on what we can build together. Read more about our panel discussion here courtesy of Alex Harrell at Sourcing Journal: https://lnkd.in/eEAZZrqp And special shout out to Henry Wong and the Artistic Garment Industries (AGI Denim) team for this amazing denim jacket with Forager Airloom Fringe that I wore on stage. #Sustainability #Innovation #ClimateAction #PublicPolicy #FutureFabrics
