Great to be able to finally share this Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) interview with Fraser Simpson on 'Making Speak Up Human'. Frasers captures so well the challenges in this area, why it is important now more than ever and offers some practical advice on how to start making a difference. For me the biggest takeaway is that 'Speak Up' is a human challenge and opportunity, and therefore needs to be treated as such. Taking an overly policy focused approach isn't going to achieve either, better reporting of wrongdoing or improved innovation, collaboration and wellbeing. I am realising (apologies to those who already knew), that writing every day is a great way of consolidating my thoughts, and some of these have been quite personal, this isn't one of those, some I haven't published because they were a flurry of thoughts & feelings which no-one else needs to read 🙂 :-) Today's thinking (based firmly on the work of Gerald Midgley - although probably rather simplified ;-)) has helped me link together the concept of values, collaboration through mixed methods, and of ‘seeing the big picture’, drawing them together with boundary judgements for effective systemic interventions & has allowed me to see how tightly this all fits together. #peoplefirst #humanisework #co-creation
