🌟 January was Buy Nothing New Month. This campaign goes beyond recycling – it's about consciously reducing new purchases, minimising waste, and embracing the value of what we already own. This month we have been: 🛠 Cherishing the things we have. 🔧 Repairing instead of landfilling. 🏡 Finding new homes for the things we no longer need. Why Buy Nothing New? 🌐 If the world lived like the UK, we'd need over two and a half planets to sustain us. Let's extend Buy Nothing New for the rest of the year! Imagine a freeway, not as a ribbon of asphalt, but as a canvas of opportunity. My friend and I see that canvas and are grabbing our gloves. We're hitting the freeways, not just to rid them of litter, but to reclaim CRV materials that too often are overlooked. This isn't just clean-up. It's a mission. A mission for cleaner freeways, a better city in the Inland Empire, and ultimately, a greener planet. Every CRV material we collect fuels our fundraiser, a seed for a new kind of recycling initiative right here in our community. We're talking about an initiative that doesn't just deal with trash. It's about educating, inspiring, and transforming the way we see waste - not as an end, but as a resource. This is where you come in. Your support, whether through joining us, spreading the word, or contributing to our fundraiser, isn't just help. It's a statement. A statement that you believe in cleaner roads, educated communities, and a healthier planet. Drop a comment or message us. Let’s not just clean – let’s educate and inspire. Together, we can turn trash into treasure and freeways into pathways of change.

More than 1,000 children have been given lessons about what can go into their recycling bins in a bid to save the local council money. Non-recyclable waste in blue bins currently costs Doncaster Council more than £300,000 a year to sort, it said. Special lessons educating children in Rossington have been taking place. They came as a new council project, run in partnership with waste partner SUEZ UK , meant bins would be left unemptied if they contained non-recyclable material. Primary schools including St Joseph's, Grange Lane, St Michael's, Pheasant Bank and Torndale Infants, were all visited as part of the scheme. A good way for children to pick up good recycling habits at an early age, which is something they can take home with them, discuss with their parents and all make a difference to increase recycling, whilst reducing contamination. Earth Day runs deep in the Patrick family. Check out this throwback photo of my dad and me donning our Recycle hats and t-shirts. My dad was on the committee that brought recycling into our town. He instilled a strong sense of responsibility for the planet in us. When I was a wasteful child, my dad would say "do you want a landfill in our backyard?" It still sticks with me. I pack my lunch for work, not because I'm a particularly good cook, but because it cuts down on the waste from the cafeteria to-go containers. What are you doing to be "green" this Earth Day? #EarthDay #sustainability #throwback #ReduceReuseRecycle #SupplyChain #SupplyChainManagement #strategicsourcing

"The Recycling Partnership, a nonprofit that works with major corporations to improve US recycling systems, says that if you look at houses and apartments alone, the national recycling rate is much closer to 21%, and 76% percent of residential recyclables are lost at the household level. [...] Even California, which has a reputation as a robust recycler, only recycles 37% of what’s possible from residences and therefore leaves 3.2 million tons a year of potentially recyclable material for landfills. [...] The first hurdle is whether a recycling service is available at all. The group found that 85% of single-family homes nationwide had access to some kind of recycling, but only 37% of multifamily homes did. And there is wide variation around the country on what materials are accepted for recycling. On one end of the spectrum is Hawaii, which only takes about 50% of possible materials, while the District of Columbia accepts almost 100%. Then there’s the question of whether people who have access use it. Nationally, only 59% of households that can recycle do."

Taking Action Where It's Needed Most. My friend and I are embarking on a mission unlike any other – hitting the freeways of the Inland Empire to tackle litter head-on. Our objective? To clean up, reclaim CRV materials, and funnel all proceeds into a groundbreaking initiative. We're not just talking about cleaning up; we're revolutionizing the way recycling services operate. California might forget to remind you about your CRV refunds, but we won't. Our vision is to launch a recycling pickup service that not only cleans our streets but also puts money back into your pockets. This is more than a cleanup; it's an educational crusade to demonstrate the value of recycling and inspire a community-wide movement. We're here to prove that every small action contributes to a larger change. Join us. Whether through action or words, your support can ignite a transformation across the Inland Empire. Drop a comment or message us. Let's not just take out the trash; let's educate, inspire, and make a lasting impact together.

How do you keep track of your team's time off? Leave Dates makes it easy! | We're Putting the Whooop into ‘Out of Office’ 🙌 | Founder at Leave Dates
Do you ever find yourself getting excited by unexpected things? This is me every time I visit my local recycling centre. ♻️ Sure, not everyone gets excited about trips to the tip, but hear me out... The centre is so well run. Firstly, it's spotless, which is no small feat for a place that people go to with their rubbish. 🗑️ The staff are brilliant – so hard working, friendly and helpful. It’s clear they take pride in their work, carefully sorting and managing waste efficiently. Like with my daughter’s bike, I was told: “We will take this to a local prison to be serviced and sold for charity”. Driving home, I wondered to myself, why do they go the extra mile? My conclusion… It’s the result of a strong mission. For them, it's more than just a job; it's a commitment to reducing waste and increasing recycling - for our community and future generations. Does your company have a strong mission? #motivation #companymission #environment

Starting April 6, 2024, a new law will revolutionize how non-domestic premises handle waste. Businesses, charities, and public sector organizations must now separate waste for recycling. What does this mean for businesses? It's time to get sorting! Paper, glass, metal, plastic, and more- all need to be separated for recycling. Who's impacted? Everyone. All businesses, charities, and public sector organizations are in this together. Why the change? It's a big step towards a greener future.
