DO WE REALLY NEED ANOTHER (MEDIA) NEWSLETTER? Yeah, I don’t know either... But for (at least) the next 90 days, Substack is going to be a sandbox where I’m committed to experimenting with cadence, subject matter, and the overall notion of putting yet another newsletter out into the universe. If you're interested in learning more, you can read and subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/gnn5rGJU WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE COMING WEEKS: - My take on the transitional state of the entertainment industry, the rising tides of the creator / community economy, and the evolving opportunity and table stakes of building a creative-led business. - Analysis and reactions to others’ reading of the media tea leaves. - Tradecraft, strategy, and patent-pending business hacks, as well as examples of folks doing the new (media) normal right. - Pop-culture references, metaphors-a-plenty, and the semi-occasional Dune quote. - My best to provide enough nuggets of good thinking, thought provoking, and two-way conversation that both of us stick around and make it a regular thing. Substack is daring me to get 10 subscribers at this point. Think on it… JJ

Whether you're a new creator or been in the game for years, there are certain pitfalls we all fall into from time to time. At the end of the day, we believe there are only two things you should be focused on: 🤳 creating amazing content 💵 generating income Anything pulling you away from those two things prevents you from growing your business. Things like: ❌ tracking expenses and payments ❌ turning complex finances into simple, actionable insights See why thousands of creators have already signed up for Manifest to simplify their personal and professional finances.

Being a content creator is a journey filled with little moments of joy and excitement. Every video we post, every subscriber we gain, and every single view feels like a pat on the back—a sign that someone out there appreciates our work. It’s this thrill that keeps me hooked. I find myself checking YouTube Studio more than any other app, and even a small spike in numbers gives me the motivation to keep going. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about the connection. Each count tells a story, and that’s what makes this journey so addictive and rewarding. You can check out our work and share your feedback—it would mean the world to us and help us grow even further! Pulled this tidbit from my October end of month recap voice note I published on Substack yesterday 😎 As the creator economy continues to grow, it brings powerful changes—not just in how we work but also in how we connect IRL. Businesses like Peoplehood address these shifts, focusing on our experiences of connection and community. For many solo creators, much of the day involves talking to a camera or into a mic. It’s often a one-way conversation—a monologue. Communication in this way can be engaging for audiences but it’s fundamentally different from the kind of connection we seek in person. When we’re out in the world, aiming to connect with others face-to-face, we need the ability to engage in real dialogue. This means asking questions, listening actively, and being genuinely curious about the person in front of us. These are nuanced skills, requiring empathy and attentiveness that often aren’t exercised when we’re solely creating content. It makes me think about our ability to nurture the art of conversation and genuine connection while also thriving in the creator economy. It's an opportunity to rethink how we balance digital monologues with IRL dialogues. These thoughts have been swirling around for a while, and I'm excited to dive deeper into this topic, exploring ways to build stronger, more authentic connections—both online and off. Stay tuned for more insights!

Good morning all! It’s that time of the year when I ask you a Very Important Question: What words do you think should be retired in 2025? Think corporate speak, trendy buzzwords, slang, overused terms, even memes. If it helps, Dictionary.com made "demure" its word of the year - so that's a contender! My annual blog post for Inkhouse will publish next week. Here's last year's for reference. So, what do you have for me?! #words #comms #content #businesscommunications

Before I started my first business, I was INSANE. Why? I was obsessed with programming and I built a product with no business and no clients. Crazy, right? Maybe a bit. But that obsession is what created a business that I grew for 18+ years. Are you obsessed with something? Check-out this short clip from a recent interview with Noemi Kis to hear my thoughts on why obsession matters... =============================== - Follow me Frank Cowell for daily growth tips - Please repost for your network ♻️ - Join my free newsletter (link in bio) - Check out my content partner @AgencyAnalytics !
