I had the opportunity to meet Josep Sais, CEO of VITROSEP, S.L. and learn from him about the water treatment process. It was fascinating to learn how many small details must be considered across various stages of these processes. I also received great support from Michael J. Emonds, one of the leading experts in glass pre-processing. His expertise in glass corrosion protection, cutting, grinding, storage, and transport helped me deepen my understanding of the subject. The @VITROSEP system offers another big advantage: it enables the use of coolants, because if the water was not recycled, coolant application would be too expensive! And the use of coolants offers several important advantages: first of all, coolants improve the grinding process itself. Coolants reduce the grinding forces necessary to remove glass particles from the glass surface. This, in turn, allows higher grinding speeds without loss of quality. At the same time, edge strength is improved. Lower grinding forces also means longer tool lifetime and less machine downtime due to dressing steps.   But coolants not only improve the tribological system itself, they also influence the whole grinding process. If water is recycled during the grinding process, the pH value will grow more and more until it is too high and working with the water is no longer allowed. Coolants act as a chemical buffer, keeping the pH stable for a long time. Furthermore, good coolants offer a corrosion inhibition which leads to less machine corrosion. And coolants influence the small glass particles resulting from the grinding process. Their re-reaction with themselves or their reaction with machinery parts, pipes, tanks etc. is minimized which helps the VITROSEP keep the system clean. Take a look at our latest exhibition: Seen and unseen. Plastics are ubiquitous materials; we are surrounded by them in many aspects of our lives. Because of this, we often overlook them, take them for granted, and do not always recognise their cultural and physical value. The materials specifically come into our vision when the objects they a made into do not do their intended jobs well, when they are used inappropriately, or when they are particularly common or overused. For example, the use of a long-lived materials for a short-term need causes the material to become highly visible and highly contentious, especially if it is poorly discarded. One of plastics’ key features, its lightness, could be considered its main downfall. Products made of plastics can be seen floating in water, blowing in the wind, and caught in trees as litter. However, many plastics objects carry out their jobs in a quiet, understated, unseen way, for example, protective helmets, road signs, and car bumpers. If they do their jobs well, they often function without consideration even when they are in plain sight. There are many unseen applications where plastics are used because of their specialist properties. These applications include leakproof water and gas pipes, and electrically insulating cable covers hidden in the floors, walls, and streets all around us. This exhibition considers objects which are literally out of sight, alongside objects where the materials used may simply be unnoticed.

📢📢📢METAL Trade Fair's new format ❗ 🔔🔔 This year's METAL Expo and its accompanying exhibitions come in a slightly refreshed format. The expo cluster will be held for 2️⃣ days (previously, this has been a three-day event). Thus, the foundry industry event will be held on 24-25|09|2024 in Kielce📅❗ 👉 Having carried out extensive consultations and analysis of the current #foundry market and the industry situation, we have decided to help companies reduce the costs associated with coming to Kielce and participating in the event which has been held for almost three decades... 👉 The exhibition in its shorter, i.e. two-day version will not be to the detriment of the event agenda; this alteration has been done to the favor of the companies that have participated in the expo for years. 👉 We analyzed the last expo, and, together with our partners and exhibitors, we concluded that the first two days were the most popular. Thus, continuing the event as a three-day show in the current market conditions is no longer justified. In response to the market and this industry's needs, Congress's offer has been expanded. Once again, I've had an incredible week! Let me give you a brief overview of what I was able to experience! 😎 Among other things, I was able to attend ANGA COM in Cologne last week, where I met Oliver Daeges and Robert Greenhalgh and talked in great detail about broadband rollout and its documentation and got to know the broad product range of 3D-Geo-Radar GmbH and the services of Ingenieurbüro Daeges.
