In common industry practices, one positive action observed was the operator not jumping out of the forklift, demonstrating a crucial safety behavior. Operational safety can be rooted in the basics of the 3M principles: Man, Machine, and Method. There are more but let us be brilliant in the basics of 3M. MAN: Safety relies on the operator's attitude and skill to identify risks and act accordingly, but this video shows a focus on task completion rather than expert safety judgment. MACHINE: Business investments in safety tools, like forklift shutdown devices for overloads, etc. are essential for preventing costly failures and ensuring safe operations. METHOD: Operational excellence shouldn't depend solely on the operator’s training but on a robust system that ensures safe actions through OSH-SOPs, safe work instructions, and a safety-first culture, led by area supervisors or managers. Either individual nor team actions, input-process-output (IPO) can be used to structure the OSH approach blend in the process to ensure full proof mitigation of risk.

However, they can become significant safety hazards if not operated correctly or used for tasks they were never intended to perform. 1. Forklift Operator Training: A Lifesaver Proper training for forklift operators is more than just a regulatory requirement—it's a lifesaver. Comprehensive training programs ensure that operators understand not only the mechanics of operating a forklift but also the critical safety procedures necessary to prevent accidents. Operators trained to recognize potential hazards are better equipped to avoid them, reducing the risk of injury to themselves and others. 2. Use Equipment Only as Intended Forklifts are designed for specific purposes, and when used outside of these parameters, the risk of accidents skyrockets. Improper use, such as overloading or using the forklift to lift or move items in ways it was not designed for, can lead to catastrophic failures. It's essential to use each piece of equipment for its intended purpose and follow all manufacturer guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. 📢 Let’s Commit to Safety! Where do you stand on sidelifter safety? If you’re not sure, the answer is in the NZ International Transport Safety Group’s Good Practice Guidelines. For owner-operators of sidelifter cranes it’s an important question with a clear answer that’s part of the industry’s recognised safety guidelines. When you arrive on-site, you need to make sure you are: 1. On stable ground 2. Nowhere near overhead obstructions 3. Have enough room to create a safe exclusion zone, and 4. In a position to safely reverse if required Then, when you operate the crane, you need to make sure you’re standing either in front or behind your truck and trailer in what we call the 2m Operator Zone. For more information and advice, or to book a Certificate of Inspection for your sidelifter, call our Auckland team on 09 277 8499 or our Christchurch team on 03 348 8499. #Steelbro, #SidelifterSolutions, #FreightLogistics

dear ehs comrades, forklift safety. i have dealt with a fatality due to forklift in the past. it scares me until today. forklift is a machine that many underestimates their capability of killing. possible accidents vary from hit by lifted load to crush between fork-fixed structure, over-turning or simply tip-over. forklift is made to lift by its strong fork and mast. it's forces may kill even by a small movement. control the forklift operations by : human : - training and competency of the driver. - movement of other employees around the working area and the awareness on forklift dangers. - driver fatigue control. the machine : - periodic and scheduled maintenance. to include daily check, it helps! - equipped with safety function such as reverse alarm or laser guide or motion sensor. working environment : - barricade or even prohibit the working area to others. use technology please. - put appropriate signages. least you can do. - suitable location to be used. small area induces high probability of mistake. note : actual photo was taken at vungtau supply base. dangerous attempt by a forklift driver to acrobatically balancing a huge load. never try this at home! #forkliftsafety #safetyfirst #warehousesafety

COMMON FORKLIFT VIOLATIONS ✅Unsafe Operation: * Violations occur when forklift operators engage in risky behaviors such as: * Driving with an elevated load. * Driving too fast. * Driving too close to platform edges. * Failing to follow loading dock safety procedures. * To prevent this, ensure proper training and emphasize safe practices. * ✅Failure to Provide Refresher Training: * Forklift operators must receive refresher training every three years. * Additional training is necessary if: * The operator is involved in an accident or near-miss. * Reckless behavior is reported. * The workplace changes create new hazards. * ✅Missing/Inadequate Operator Certification: * All forklift operators must have an OSHA-approved certification for the specific class of forklift they operate. * Certification ensures competence and adherence to safety protocols. * ✅Failure to Remove Unsafe Trucks from Service: * When a forklift is found defective or unsafe, it must be taken out of service (lockout/tagout). * Repairs should be made promptly to restore safe operating conditions. * ✅No Pre-Operation Inspection: * Daily inspection checklists are crucial for safety. * They help identify minor issues before they escalate into costly repairs. And there are plenty more that come on and off this list. Get trained, be prepared, be safe. #east2westsafetyplus #safetytraining #florida #osha #mewp #forklift #funny #excavator #CPR #earthmoving #tips #fallprotection #fun #forkliftcertified #funnyvideos #good #construction #safetytrainingvideo #heavymachinery #constructionmanagement

🚦Forklift Operating Guidelines🚦 ⭕️Keep a safe distance. Operations must be stopped immediately if other personnel on the work site do not maintain a safe distance from the forklift! ⭕️"Point and Call" At intersections, the vehicle must decelerate, honk, and perform a "point and call" confirmation! ⭕️Shut off the engine, remove the key, and apply the handbrake. When the forklift stops operations and the driver gets off, the engine must be shut off, the key removed, and the handbrake applied! ⭕️Daily Inspection Before starting operations each day, a thorough inspection must be carried out according to the inspection items before work can proceed! ⭕️Stop, Call, and Wait If any abnormality is found during forklift operations, the principle of "Stop, Call, and Wait" must be followed! ☀️Forklift operations are inherently hazardous due to the handling of heavy materials, and adhering to standard operating procedures is crucial to preventing injuries among operators. However, besides standard operating procedures, robust material handling equipment is also paramount. ☀️Over the years we have taken pride in our highly esteemed, reliable forklift range, which we have poured our energy and passion into. We have been, are, and will continue to be committed to quality, personnel safety, and the thrive of the material handling industry. #ForkliftOperation #Operators #PersonnelSafety #ForkliftOperatingGuidelines #HulkMachinery #Forklifts #ReliableForklifts

🟨 It's critical to never stand or work under the forklift forks. If the forks were to lower unexpectedly, it could result in severe injury or even death. 🟨 Always adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents. Standing or working under forklift forks is extremely hazardous and should always be avoided. Forklifts are designed to lift and transport heavy loads, and any failure in the hydraulic system, forks, or load stability can result in catastrophic accidents. The weight of the load, even if it seems secure, poses a significant risk of crushing injuries or fatalities should it shift or fall unexpectedly. Additionally, sudden mechanical failures or human errors can occur without warning, making the area beneath the forks one of the most dangerous places in an industrial setting. Safety protocols are in place for a reason, and adhering to them is critical to preventing accidents. Workers should never be positioned under raised forks, and operators must ensure that the forks are always lowered to the ground when the forklift is not in use. Regular maintenance and safety checks are essential to ensure the reliability of forklifts and their components. By following these guidelines, the risk of serious injury or death can be significantly minimized, creating a safer workplace for everyone involved. #safetycourses #safetyofficer #hseprofessionals #hsetraining #hse #hsejobs#safetytraining #healthandsafetytraining #neboshobe #onlineorientation #safetyjobs #experttrainersacademy
