Next week, on January 24 the world will mark the sixth International Day of Education. Proclaimed by the UN Secretary General in 2018 the Day both celebrates the role of education in achieving sustainable development and affirms our commitment to ensuring quality education for all. This year the theme for the day is ‘Learning for Lasting Peace’. Sadly, the world is seeing a surge of violent conflicts paralleled by a concerning rise of intolerance and discrimination. In this context, an active commitment to peace is more urgent than ever and education is key to this endeavor. • 258 million school age children around the world are out of school; • 617 million children cannot read and do basic math; • 244 million children have had their education disrupted due to conflict, climate change disasters and forced displacement. Inclusive and equitable quality education is an effective long-term preventative tool that protects, builds and sustains peace before, during and after conflict. Ensuring everyone has access to quality lifelong learning opportunities is more important than ever.

Schools aren’t just about education for children. They are institutions that shape their personalities, provide them with a safe space and help them build strong interpersonal relationships outside of home. Let this International Day of Education inspire us to work towards building a more sustainable education system for our children. They deserve an education that is more than just passing examinations; one that transforms their lives and helps them unfold their full potential. #educationday #publicpolicy #21stcenturyskills #gandhifellowship

Education is the cornerstone of personal and societal progress. It equips individuals with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary to navigate an ever-changing world. From early childhood development to higher education and lifelong learning, education fosters creativity, innovation, and social cohesion. It's not just about acquiring information; it's about developing a mindset of curiosity and adaptability. In today's fast-paced and interconnected world, education must evolve to meet the demands of the future, emphasizing not only academic excellence but also holistic development, including emotional intelligence, digital literacy, and global citizenship. Through inclusive and equitable education systems, we can empower individuals to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond 📚
Quality education is not a luxury — it is a human right. Education for all is also one of the #GlobalGoals; the world’s blueprint for a better future for all. Every effort must be made to ensure all children & young people can access their right to an education so they can reach their full potential. https://lnkd.in/g8yi2kh

🌍 The SDG 4 Quality Education is SDG of the month of April. It is very important to us as it covers one of our core fields which is #QualityEducation. 🔤 📖 🔢 SDG 4 aims for free primary education, vocational training, gender equality, and universal higher education by 2030. Education breaks the poverty cycle, fosters equality, and contributes to peaceful societies. Urging governments to prioritize education, address challenges, and bridge the digital divide is vital. Let's advocate for free primary education and equal opportunities, especially for vulnerable groups. 📚 Despite improvements in recent years, COVID-19 caused learning setbacks for around 84 million children. However, it underscored the significance of digital education, acting as a crucial lifeline for students to continue accessing education and knowledge amidst global challenges. 💻 You can also find further information about the SDG of the month on the UN official website: https://lnkd.in/gzJVNcb Together, let's ensure education is accessible to all! 🧒 👩 👨 👵 👴 👨👩👧👦 #SDG4 #QualityEducation #SDGoftheMonth #eeeAustria

Education, democracy and global solidarity: learning to understand the other in an age of uncertainty By Edgar Morin French Philosopher “The notion of citizen virtues can make us think of ourselves as global citizens. Unfortunately, these notions are very weak; our institutions cannot create them. There is something missing in all our official systems and that is an education that enables us to understand ‘the other’. It is not only a European or global problem but also a problem that we experience ourselves daily – what does it mean to understand ‘the other’?” https://lnkd.in/dZyqWdJB

With global challenges such as war, poverty, climate crisis, we have seen the number of children not being able to get an adequate or quality education. How can be foster development if we the population have no education? For majority of the people facing these challenges it’s their only way to a better life out of a war zone area, it’s a better life out of the village, it’s a better life out of a refugee camp. We can’t stop emphasizing the importance of education and the opportunity it can provide. Sustainable Development Goals, Agenda targets is 2030 and the trajectory of this development shows we are lacking behind the promise. UNESCO, United Nations UN SDG Action Campaign it’s your mission to promote and strengthen sustainable development efforts especially in Education. #EducationIsMyFuture #EducationIsARight
