When you prioritize accessibility and inclusion you are prioritizing people. Taking small steps to get there is a good way to start. What step can you take today?

So, how can you make disability inclusion a priority? 🤔 1. Acknowledge Its Importance: Start by recognizing that disability inclusion is a core component of diversity. It's an integral part of creating a truly inclusive workplace. 2. Leadership Buy-In: Ensure that your leadership team understands and champions disability inclusion. When leadership is committed, it sends a powerful message throughout the organization. 3. Allocate Resources: While resources are finite, allocate some towards disability inclusion programs. Even small steps can make a significant difference. 4. Accessibility: Make your physical and digital spaces accessible to all. This not only benefits employees with disabilities but also improves customer relations. P.S. Don’t be part of the 80% that’s doing nothing. Be the change agent who is doing something to ensure that your employees with disabilities are feeling valued and seen. Here’s a fact - if you have more than 5 employees/people on your team, the odds are you have at least one employee with a disability. This… is true. There’s also been very little posts on social media across the board in this area. Is it due to the hesitation and anxiousness of what’s happening within our government and the presidential election that’s making companies not push onwards with their commitment for our disability communities? Is it the inflation that is impacting companies where their focus has shifted away from this to that? If so, something’s not right… there should be a balance as one would think. I cannot help but wonder what assessment tools Disability:IN is using to rate all the companies they have rated… Who’s doing these assessments? How are they authentically done with integrity? How are these companies getting high scores when this is the case… this post speaks volumes. Nonetheless, that should not slow us down, but drives us forward, and continue to speak out, speak up, push for changes that need to be made as there still so much to be done for our communities. What can we do to drive our companies to follow through with what they preach? I have a solution for this task

What’s important to call out is it isn’t an option for disability inclusion to be a priority. Roughly 27% of the adult U.S. population has a disability and we will all acquire a disability at some point in our lives. We have family and friends of people with disabilities who are just as much advocates for inclusion and equitable treatment. If disablity inclusion isn’t a priority for an organization, what you’re saying is your future self isn’t a priority, all of the family and friends of individuals with disabilities aren’t a priority either. (The impact of 27% of the population now grows exponentially.)
