Special thanks to everyone who came out to support our annual Hometown Heroes event at the Modesto Nuts Professional Baseball Club ballgame on August 10th. The ceremony recognizes those in the community that have demonstrated the values of Responsibility, Excellence, and Community Service. This year, we were thrilled to celebrate longtime nurse and breast cancer survivor Susan, Winco Foods produce manager Shalveen, teacher Kailanie, and national sports cards podcast hosts and twin brothers Ryan & Colin. Our recognized guests were honored pre-game with the fanfare they deserve, and some were even able to join us at the ballgame. Our community is lucky to have them! #gonuts #memoriesmadehere🥜 #hometownheroes

For the 2nd year, I am supporting individuals and families affected by CACNA1A by participating in the 3rd Annual CACNA1A 5K Run, Walk, and Roll. This cause is near and dear to me, as our daughter Barri, has been diagnosed with this rare disorder at 13 months old. We are asking for your support by making a donation to assist with research for Barri and others affected. The CACNA1A Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by CACNA1A-related diseases and accelerating research to find a cure. 100%of the funds go directly to the foundation! Last year we crushed our goal, and this year we hope to exceed our $7k goal! Sign-up here: https://lnkd.in/e-MXYe9p If you plan to walk with us on Sunday, May 19th at Anacostia Park- please register for the walk and order the swag bag, which contains the Tshirt we will be wearing. You can register now through may, however in order to receive the Tshirt, you must order by March 7. If you are not in the area, but still want to donate, please support by giving to my personal fundraising page: https://lnkd.in/ebQDtQxv What is CACNA1A? CACNA1A is a gene that plays a vital role in the communication between neurons in the brain. CACNA1A-related disorders are rare and lifelong conditions that affect the brain. People who have brain differences due to CACNA1A can have a wide range of symptoms or features, but they are united by the fact that their symptoms all are due to differences within the CACNA1A gene. These symptoms significantly impact the lives of the people who live with this disorder and their families. Current options for treating CACNA1A-related disorders are limited to managing and/or treating symptoms. There is no known cure for CACNA1A Why Participate? Individuals and families are affected by challenging symptoms related to CACNA1A every day, including uncontrolled seizures, hemiplegic migraines, cerebellar atrophy and more. There are very limited treatments and no cure. The clock is ticking.

Superbowl Squares for the kids! In an effort to raise money for the Miles for Miracles Team from Boston Children's Hospital for the 2024 Boston Marathon I am lucky to run in, I am doing a Superbowl squares fundraiser to support these brave kids! $20 per square, 50% of the proceeds supports his fundraising goal, and 50% goes to the winners following each quarter ($250 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarters and final score). How it works: Once all the squares have been selected, we will randomly pick numbers from 0-9 for each team in the Super Bowl, and assign that number to a particular row or column. These numbers represent the last number in the score of each team. In other words, if the score is AFC 17 - NFC 14, then the winning square is the one with an AFC number of 7, and an NFC number of 4. Since this is a Fund Raiser, 50% of the proceeds will go to the Charity Organization, and the other 50% will be distributed among the Users with a Winning Square. GET STARTED Use the following links to either enter your picks or show the current picks. Enter Your Picks ($20.00 per square) FIRST Click on the link to choose your squares. https://lnkd.in/e8kB2gty Username: Marathon Password: Chuck Show All Picks https://lnkd.in/eP-xbVq3 THEN Venmo your payment to @chuckblanchette please add comment: Squares for The Kids! Your support means the world. With your help, we can directly impact the lives of these courageous children and their families by: - Providing critical medical care to kids, including those from your community - Offering specialized care for complex diseases, unmatched anywhere else - Backing over 3,000 researchers developing groundbreaking treatments and cures - Funding patient programs like music and art therapy, bringing joy during hospital stays - Assisting patient families in crisis with urgent needs like food, clothing, and housing - Delivering compassionate, leading-edge care to every child in need We're already 64% to our $10,000 goal, and with under 100 days left until the 2024 Boston Marathon, every step counts. Your donation matters—thank you for considering and for being part of this incredible cause! Join us in making miracles happen. #SUDEPActionDay2024 1 out of every 150 people with poorly controlled seizures or epilepsy die from SUDEP. Before April 7, 2024, I was unaware of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death from Epilepsy). It wasn't until my brother passed away in his sleep that we learned seizures can lead to this risk. If you know anyone with seizures or epilepsy, please inform them about SUDEP and discuss it with their neurologist. Taking proactive steps can reduce risks and potentially save lives. There are resources out there, it’s a matter of having a conversation first. While it's too late for Jaaden, we can all help others avoid a similar fate. In honor of Jaaden Steward and others who have passed from SUDEP, the Steward family will be hosting a kickball fundraising event on Nov. 16th. We invite all who can to participate. All proceeds will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation. Information can be found on the website listed below. https://lnkd.in/ewh-Sfua
