🚴🚴We had a fantastic time at the Wheels for Meals event in Cayman! The day was well-organized, with volunteers assisting all participants. The venue was perfect and catered to everyone's needs. 🌟 The enthusiastic class facilitators made the 45-minute sessions fly by. Participants received exercise kits and post-workout snacks and drinks. They kept us ready for more. 🤝 We're proud to be among the companies supporting this event for our beloved seniors. Seeing our community come together for such a worthy cause was heartwarming. Let’s keep the spirit alive and continue supporting our seniors! https://lnkd.in/eUwBagUs 💪❤️ #CSC #Caymanislands #wheelsformeals

Do you care? “About what?” you’re asking. No, I mean do you care for someone else? This week is National Carers Week, the theme of which is ‘Putting Carers on the Map’. Carers are the unseen backbone of the country. It’s estimated that they save the government around £162billion each year! The aim of Carers Week is to help carers know they're not forgotten and that they're valued. So if you know someone who is a carer for a family member or friend, show them that you care! 🧘♀️ Give them a respite by offering to sit with the person they care for 🛒 Offer to do some shopping 🍽 Cook them a meal and take it round 🗓 Don’t take offence if they have to cancel plans at the last minute 📞 Call them up to see how they are 👂 Be a listening ear when they want to offload If you’re an employer: ✔ Implement flexible working if it’s not already available ✔ Be adaptable with allowing time off/leave ✔ Show empathy during emergencies ✔ Allow the carer to have access to their phone during meetings ✔ Ask them what they need And if you’re a carer, remember to care for yourself too! You’re no good to your loved one if you fall ill yourself. Saying ‘thank you’ doesn’t seem enough, but let’s hope that awareness is raising this Carers Week! I’d love to know what your organisation does for carers. It’s always good to share best practice that others can learn from. Please share in the comments.

Impact Evangelist and Entrepreneur, building out the impact ecosystem by supporting entrepreneurs and connecting investors with impact opportunities
Is there a link between generosity and good business? Coming from someone in #impactinvesting, you might think that is a loaded question and I'm trying to fool you into investing into dressed up charities. No! Humans are drawn to generosity and it compels us to reciprocate... but only if it is genuine. Whether you live in a world of abundance or scarcity depends on your view towards generosity. My good friend (Sam Barbee) sent me this video of his community's response of generosity to those in need. (https://lnkd.in/gywxNhgB) It starts out showing NewGround coffee. A great choice of coffee but an even better choice of business as they train and employ ex-offenders. NewGround is doing great as a business but the founders Joel Grates and Dickon Morris believe in generosity. They pour it out generously and they also receive it. From Resurgo and Impact Central who helped them start the business and individuals including Sarah Bowles, Jamie Broderick, Charles Eve, Richard Atterbury, Vincent Camerlynck, Patrick Butcher, Alex Edmans, Nahim Afzal, Alastair Colin-Jones and many others who were generous with time and resources to help their business off the ground. Selfridges showed generosity, giving them the prime Corner Shop location when they were just starting and over the last 4 years the business has grown to more than £1m in annual revenue. Want to try their coffee? Head into Jamie Oliver's new restaurant on Catherine Street where they specially selected it for their customers. Generosity is definitely good for business ... and all the other parts of life that actually really matter.

My heart shattered when I heard that kids in rural communities—kids of farmers who grow the food that feeds our families—were going to school hungry. What sort of world do we live in where this is possible? It’s a cruel irony, which can’t be ignored. Kids in rural communities are already disadvantaged with lower education outcomes than city kids. Aussie Helpers has been quietly at the forefront of this issue, delivering practical and free support to farming families through our AHVISE program. Our volunteer teachers and tutors give their time and expertise to farming kids and families. And yet, there is more to be done. We all know that eating a healthy breakfast every day sets up kids for a full day of learning, which is why I’m proud that Aussie Helpers has launched Brekkie in a Bag. Brekkie in a Bag offers practical support to help farming families at risk of or experiencing food insecurity. But more importantly, it provides practical support with respect and compassion to the whole community, ensuring families preserve their privacy and dignity in close-knit communities. Brekkie in a Bag—and our other programs—support families and communities that produce food but do not have access to foodbanks. I’m determined to deliver Brekkie in a Bag to any school in a farming community that needs help. Aussie Helpers’ reach and relationships across farming communities to deliver free school breakfasts is unmatched. But we need help. Every day, more and more Aussies are struggling to feed their families—including farmers. And Australia is a big place! We’re looking for volunteer drivers to travel between our sites in Gladstone, Charleville and Dubbo and reach rural communities across QLD, NSW and VIC. We’re also looking for local partners and sponsors to help us deliver fresh fruit and dairy to schools. If you can help or donate, please head to aussiehelpers.org.au. Or, if you know someone who might be able to help, please share.

Pub is The Hub is a not for profit organisation founded by His Majesty King Charles III in 2001, offering specialist advice to publicans on rural services diversifications so they can all provide viable local services or activities which add social value in their local areas. Examples of initiatives have been the broadening of pub services into replacing essential village services that may have disappeared such as shops and post offices, or the "Join In - Last Orders for Loneliness" to allow areas to become better connected and in the process help alleviate loneliness. In Asset Plus, we believe everyone has a part to play in adding value to the communities in which they serve. Adding social value isn’t just a corporate responsibility; it’s an opportunity to create meaningful change. Organisations that embrace this concept contribute not only to their own success but also to the betterment of the communities they serve. We look forward to sharing our Social Value journey with you over the coming months. #socialvalue

⭐ CEO at Be Free Young Carers, ⭐ Mum of two daughters, ⭐ VSC Board member of Oxfordshire Safeguarding and Children's Board, ⭐ Fundraiser. ⭐ Passionate about Young Carers and supporting Youth Work ⭐ Trustee at Supershoes
New government figures out last week show how being a young carer has a devastating impact on their education and prospects. 'Young carers have a persistent absence rate of 39% - almost twice as high as their peers. On average they miss 23 days of school per year, far more than those without a caring role. This lays bare the glaring inequality in the life opportunities for young carers compared to their classmates.' Be Free Young Carers are looking to level the playing field by supporting Oxfordshires young carers, whether it's by providing that important respite from their role or supporting them with work experience placements, interview techniques and even 121 emotional support and counselling - we are here for them every step of the way. #youngcarers #charity #employability https://lnkd.in/eSDP99Y6
