How is medical imaging impacted by the use of big data? To address this, a simple flow of the use of AI in medical imaging is explained. To that end, PulseNest is creating a hub to harness the power of big data in different medical categories and create the possibility of painting a more convoluted picture of the body by connecting each of these medical conditions. One such package is focused on medical imaging and developing an early predictive model using algorithms that regulatory entities must approve. Would you like to hear more? With so many current and emerging ways that AI is transforming healthcare, I was eager to learn more about this truly transformative technology. Massachusetts Institute of Technology was the perfect place to learn, and, after their six-week course, I now better understand the: - potential applications and capabilities of supervised machine learning - limitations, considerations and challenges with developing AI technologies - the truly EXCITING benefits to patients (how does reducing the need for breast biopsy surgery by 87% using AI sound!), hospitals, providers and industry! AI will change patient care and outcomes in so many ways! Knowing how to train the technology to eliminate bias in the data, reduce the "black box" nature of the technology so that users better understand why/how the technology is making decisions and provide clinical data on the efficacy of the technology will aid adoption. Everything from how hospitals schedule cases to optimize efficiencies, to patient screening, to medtech ecosystems (pre, during and post-surgery) will benefit...exciting times to be in healthcare!

Gen AI: Transforming X-Rays, CT Scans, and MRIs in Medical Imaging. Generative AI is revolutionizing medical imaging. It enhances X-rays by improving clarity and reducing noise, making it easier to detect abnormalities. In CT scans, Gen AI speeds up image reconstruction and boosts accuracy, aiding in early diagnosis. For MRIs, Gen AI sharpens images of soft tissues, leading to more precise diagnoses and fewer repeat scans. Gen AI is the future of medical imaging, offering faster, more accurate diagnostics and better patient care. - Stay ahead in healthcare innovation—follow us for the latest on AI in medical imaging. #GenerativeAI #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalImaging #AI #Healthcare

First MassMedic Symposium today. Thanks Peter Stebbins for the suggestion. Some great discussion already on the applications of AI in surgical. Ultimately, success will come down to the balance of value proposition and risk: what's the specific problem being solved and how do we match the type of solution to the risk? A few highlights: - AI vs GenAI vs XAI (explainable): great that conversation about AI is getting much more nuanced than even a six months ago. The types of tool selected will need to suit the application and evolve. - Optimism: lots of it, but roll-out will be gradual. As with any new tool in surgery, clinicians will need to learn and get comfortable. That digital tools can be trialled alongside existing practices should make the learning process faster (than say displacing an existing tool). - Who takes the risk: "this question doesn't come up in Europe... We have to figure it out in the US" - Tom Calef. Great point that policy and legal industry will need to evolve in parallel. Supporting data will be key so that the outputs of tools can be assessed. Great work #massmedic Rachel Robinson

Energizing second day at KLAS Research summit at Park City. Awesome keynote by Nina Kottler, MD, MS of Radiology Partners on New Technologies in Imaging. As the first radiologist to join RP, she has been instrumental in shaping the technology platform which has enabled unprecedented scale and quality. A key part of that journey has been testing and deploying AI at scale. Here are just a few of the lessons learned: * we are early in AI with different types of models on different sections of the Gartner hype cycle, but all lack needed best practices and none have come into the core of the productivity plateau. * AI and radiology is truly a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup opportunity - better together! * AI sees things rads don’t but rads see and understand things AI doesn’t. * One key decision point for AI value is whether AI is really enhancing detection rather than confirming detection. Generative #AI isn’t a gold rush. After a flurry of initial excitement, executives are starting to realize that capturing value through #genAI is going to be a long game. Employing gen AI effectively over the long term requires what we call organizational surgery: a broad set of changes to the way work actually gets done. In this article, coauthors Eric Lamarre, Alex Singla, Alexander Sukharevsky, and Rodney Zemmel – representing views from QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey – explain how you can rewire the way your company works to break open the gen AI opportunity: ▪ Figure out where gen AI copilots can give you a real competitive advantage. ▪ Upskill the talent you have but be clear about the gen-AI-specific skills you need. ▪ Form a centralized team to establish standards that enable responsible scaling. ▪ Set up the technology architecture to scale. ▪ Ensure data quality and focus on unstructured data to fuel your models. ▪ Build trust and reusability to drive adoption and scale. #NeverJustTech
