HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY GALLANT COLLECTIVE!
One year ago, we launched Gallant Collective to disrupt the way technology leaders recruit. And what a year it's been!
"We exist to deliver quality partnership to our clients, maximise value and contribute to business performance through people. We’re different because our founders have been in our client’s shoes having been employers and people leaders for over 20 years."
Starting up in an established market is never easy but we had the incredible support of our truly amazing clients who trusted us, backed us and gave us a chance to prove ourselves. We connected with so many talented IT professionals who made us proud - with their individual achievements and the results they delivered for our clients. Of course we were also fortunate to have the support of our professional network who provided us opportunity, advice and advocacy.
A very special shout out to the very talented Inan D. our Director of Talent. Inan is incredibly passionate about connecting people and driving results for both our clients and candidates and has been a driving force behind our first year success. Inan has constantly reminded me to have fun along the way, celebrate the wins - and that the journey is just as important as the destination.
Success is definitely a team sport and I'm so grateful to everyone who supported us and truly proud of the difference we've made for our clients.
Personally, my biggest takeaway is how much I've learned. Here are a few reflections I thought worth sharing:
1. Leading a startup is no picnic- it’s not glam and it’s will test your mind, body and soul.
2. Being a true business partner to your clients involves alot of listening - to understand their needs & goals, and determine how you can provide maximum value. You need to act like an owner and think like a customer (sound easy?)
3. Being crystal clear about what you do and how you do it, and ensuring everyone in your business is aligned with this clarity is imperative.
4. Don’t take what you know for granted - your experience, knowledge and wisdom are valuable.
5. Be seen and heard - It’s a hustle.
6. You can’t know everything - establish your personal advisory board.
7. It's not all business. If you’re passionate about a cause, make time for it and find ways to contribute to your community - you’ll be grateful you did.
8. Trust your gut instinct - it’s a real thing.
9. Whoever said “if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life” was telling us lies. 😉
10. There’s very little you can’t do as long as you’re willing to be courageous, fail, learn, try again, and learn some more.
… and plenty more!
As we move into a new financial year, I'm super excited about working alongside our very inspiring clients and welcoming new team members, to achieve continued mutual success and look forward to what lies ahead!
