Today is a day of remembrance and reflection as we celebrate the legacies of two of our greatest Presidents and leaders, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Both men led our country through some of its darkest and most trying times, and they emerged victorious, helping us become a stronger and more united nation. As we honor these great men, we also take a moment to pray for our current and future leaders. May they be blessed with wisdom, understanding, and courage to help us meet the challenges ahead and keep our country strong and prosperous. #taxattorney #RJSLAWFirm

In celebration of President’s Day, it is fitting to understand why Lincoln, in a 1982 poll of forty-nine historians and political scientists, was voted the best US President in history. The participants rated every President through Jimmy Carter across five categories - leadership abilities, accomplishments/crisis management, political skills, appointments, and character/integrity. Lincoln scored first in each of the five categories! The most lasting accomplishments attributed to Lincoln are the preservation of the Union, the vindication of democracy, and the death of slavery, all crises that would have ended differently under a lesser man in office. However, his greatest achievement was his ability to energize and mobilize the nation by appealing to its best ideals, in the pursuit of a more perfect, more just, and more enduring Union. No other President in US history has faced a greater crisis and no President accomplished as much. #leadership #presidentsday #realestate

Change is usually good. But, after reviewing the backgrounds of each person on the team, I'd like to see more emphasis on real world visceral experience within the digital sector and global tech economy. It is the future. Change starts at the bottom with the people doing it. The kind of change needed is not possible from academia, corporate professionals, lifetime appointed or elected officials because they have not lived the hard life and built something from the ground up. My experience is that they cannot identify the proper roadmap to build new innovations and bring them to market. It's hard to create this kind of ecosystem in communities that have fallen behind because of talented attrition who leaves for better places to get the right help. It simply doesn't matter how talented you are, it takes a bigger community who has walked the same walk to support you. When an entrepreneur is all in and struggling and needs help, we go where we can actually get helped. On the other hand, there are plenty of examples in our state of people who have not left, that are trying to drive a digital evolution here but I do not see them represented in this new group. Change comes from the entrepreneurs, period. Where are they? Moving to other cities. The book "Startup Communities: Building an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Your City" by Brad Feld, founder of Techstars, is a great example of what it takes to transform a community into a startup and business phenom. https://lnkd.in/gHCbdkhm

Honestly, for anyone engaged in financial co-operatives (credit unions and the organizations that support them), this program is a fabulous network and knowledge building week. The post below highlights bursaries for younger leaders, but the program is for all ages and stages in one's career. This is the type of immersion experience like few others that I've experienced. One week in Halifax could turn into much more...... building relationships with others across the country and around the world; opening up opportunities for international experiences and an international designation (if you so choose). And, of course, it will make you a better, smarter leader.

A wise observation! The founding fathers of the United States of America indeed envisioned a democratic system where citizens would have the power to choose their leaders. They understood the importance of responsible leadership and the impact it has on the nation's future. As l mentioned, choosing the next president wisely is crucial for the country's progress and prosperity. It's essential for citizens to engage in informed discussions, evaluate candidates' policies and character, and exercise their right to vote. By doing so, they can help shape the country's future and honor the founding fathers' legacy.
