Congratulations to my former colleagues at The Center for Election Science on the launch of their new #website! That project took an amazing amount of work, and I think it looks great. Big kudos to Nina Taylor and the whole team for getting it done. I also want to draw attention to the new Research Hub, and the first edition of the America (Mis)Represented Report, which I co-authored with Whitney Hua, Ph.D. and José J. Alcocer, MPP. The report takes an in-depth look at how choose-one voting in our primaries is distorting our elections. It's the first time that vote-splitting has been aggregated and analyzed. The U.S. political system is often criticized for being a dysfunctional duopoly dominated by the Democratic and Republican parties. This two-party system, deeply rooted in American history, limits voter choice and often prioritizes corporate interests over the public good. Despite growing frustration among voters, institutional structures like the Electoral College and winner-take-all elections reinforce this dominance. However, movements for reform, such as ranked choice voting and independent campaigns, are gaining momentum, offering a path to a more representative democracy.
