The U.S. political system is often criticized for being a dysfunctional duopoly dominated by the Democratic and Republican parties. This two-party system, deeply rooted in American history, limits voter choice and often prioritizes corporate interests over the public good. Despite growing frustration among voters, institutional structures like the Electoral College and winner-take-all elections reinforce this dominance. However, movements for reform, such as ranked choice voting and independent campaigns, are gaining momentum, offering a path to a more representative democracy.
