Today is National Intern Day and we would like to take the time to recognize our two Sales Management interns, Alex Lynn and Titus Miller. Alex is a junior at Cedarville University majoring in business management with a minor in data analytics. Alex has been working with the data analytics and legal teams to ensure our sales team operates smoothly. Titus joins us from Grand Canyon University where he is studying finance and economics. Titus joins Curonix to learn some new skills and prepare himself for future success in the business world. Thank you for all of your hard work, Alex and Titus! #Curonix #chronicpain #pns #peripheralnerve #neuromodulation #YourPainOurPurpose #NationalInternDay

Intern Spotlight (and birthday shoutout!) for our very own Joshua Weidenfeller. When Joshua's friends ask what he does at work he says that he connects with healthcare leaders and facilitates meaningful conversations that help our team understand how we can best help our partners better understand their patients throughout their care journey. However, during lunch this summer, he found time to have some fun. One of his favorite NRC Health memories was having sandwich-eating competitions with fellow interns. Joshua thanks Business Development Manager, Dillon McKinney as one of his most impactful mentors. "Working on the type of accounts Business Development Executives work on has given me a unique perspective on how large deals come to fruition, and what it takes from a sales professional side to push the deal across the finish line." Joshua's Fun Facts: -His favorite book is Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne. -When he was younger he wanted to become a business owner, not in any specific area. -His favorite thing about going to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is how big the campus is. It is great for walking around, and there are many areas to sit and do homework. #NRCHealthHavePurpose #NRCHealthFeelConnected

Senior Strategist (Executive Office) at New America | Writer | Facilitator | Connector | Focused on Economic and Racial Justice
RISING TALENT ALERT! #GovernmentAffairs and #ThinkTank pals in the DMV: I'm pleased to introduce a recent Clemson grad interested in making his way to D.C. to return to policy analysis/research work following some policy research internships (and, meanwhile, set his course for policy strategy/dot-connector roles -- which you know is close to my heart). Meet Jackson Hern, an honors economics and political science BA with excellent analytical research, writing, and communication skills. His prior experience and study has centered on education, workforce development, and labor force policy.

The kids are alright....but we need to support them! For the past three summers I've had the pleasure of discussing financial literacy and financial futures with Greenwood Project interns. The thoughts of this summer's interns, Anthony Armstead, Arelys Estrada, Adin Farmer, Imani Noel, Kai Washington, and Manny Wiley are insightful and important for all of us to consider. #InvestingInvolvesRisk

Internship Experience with the City of Houston Treasury Division This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with the Treasury Division of the City of Houston, diving deep into the world of municipal finance. Here's a glimpse of what I accomplished and learned: Portfolio Management: I gained hands-on experience with Houston’s $6 billion investment portfolio and $14 billion debt portfolio. This role provided me with a comprehensive understanding of large-scale municipal finance and the complexities involved. Financial Research: I researched official statements for municipal bonds (munibonds) and analyzed how fluctuations in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) impact bond pricing and economic health. I also explored the difference between price and yield as it relates to bond issuance. Evaluated Financial Firms: I created comprehensive highlight pages to evaluate and assess various financial advisory firms pitching to fund city projects. This included assessing their service offerings, fees, key personnel, innovative ideas, and possible conflicts of interest. I also analyzed their strategies to mitigate the city’s debt and to fund its projects related to public works, general obligations, the Houston Airport System, and convention entertainment. Reporting and Analysis: - Recreated the book value balance of an investment portfolio - Updated financial data, including a detailed analysis of the Municipal Market Data (MMD) curve and its effect on bond pricing and municipal market data - Produced reports on the differences between bond price and yield - Produced an updated report on Houston’s Municipal Employee Pension System including its budget members and upcoming projects Assisted with Houston Firefighters’ $650 Million Back Pay Settlement: I played a role in organizing and preparing checks to be sent to firefighters receiving payment from the city’s settlement. Skills Developed: - Advanced financial analysis and portfolio management - Evaluation and comparison of financial advisory services - Insights into municipal bond issuance and economic factors affecting finance - Updated and analyzed financial data with Excel A huge thank you to the Treasury Division and Vernon M. Lewis, MBA, ACPFIM, CPM, CTP-FMVA-Candidate for this invaluable experience. The team was incredibly welcoming and offered a truly rewarding experience. I am beyond grateful, and I am excited to continue applying these skills and knowledge in my future endeavors! Thank you. #Finance #MunicipalFinance #InvestmentPortfolio #DebtManagement #FinancialAnalysis #Internship #CityOfHouston #ProfessionalGrowth

Our fourth spotlight features Sarah Lynch from Indiana University Bloomington. Sarah is the data and reporting analyst intern at F&G. We asked Sarah a few questions about her journey with us: Q: What do you like the most about working at F&G? A: How inclusive and collaborative the team is. While working on our capstone project, we were able to meet with a full-time employee team member to learn more about the relationship between our topic and the company, which gave us more insights in addition to our outside research. Q: What is your favorite project or assignment you have been involved with so far this summer? A: My favorite project so far is the work I am doing for Underwriting. I get to start from the beginning and apply my skills to a real-world scenario that will help provide insights for F&G.
