A San Diego nonprofit is giving human trafficking survivors a head start on their healing journey by working to reduce unwanted scars from their time being trafficked using excel V+. The nonprofit is called ‘Unbranded for a Fresh Start’ and helps give survivors a start on their healing journey. “The perpetrator will mark them so that it’s clear who owns them,” said Jill Granquist, medical program director for Fresh Start. “...it’s not unusual for them to have burns, cuts, and scars.” A fresh start begins with moving forward and we are so glad that excel V+ by Cutera can be a part of that. Thank you, Ali Evans for sharing your story and Jill Granquist and Michelle Pius for your positive impact. https://lnkd.in/e7rqyFFM For more information on Unbranded for a Fresh Start visit: https://lnkd.in/efs5unVT For more information on excel V+ by Cutera visit: https://lnkd.in/eREkdvea #dermatology #scars #survivorawareness

The More You Know! 🌈☀️🩵 Hope for HIE’s Venmo account (@HopeforHIE) is tied to our IRS-compliant, verified organization under EIN 46-4038344. Donations that are funneled through personally created Venmo accounts are not associated or authorized by Hope for HIE, are not tax-deductible and cannot receive tax benefits. These accounting best practices ensure we reduce risk for fraudulent activity and common schemes targeting nonprofits such as skimming, diversion of funds, and misrepresentation that erode trust in nonprofits and charitable organizations. We are SO grateful for the support of our organization as we continue to grow through comprehensive support programs and services, as well as advocacy and research collaborations to improve the quality of life for children and families impacted by neonatal and pediatric-acquired HIE. #HypoxicIschemicEncephalopathy #HopeforHIE #PediatricNeurology #NeonatalNeurology #PatientAdvocacy #NICU #PedsICU #NICUsupport #HIEAwarenessMonth #PICU #neonatology #HIEawareness #HIEAwarenessMonth2024 #TransformingHope

Break Down the Best Examples for Fundraising Appeals Friend, do you have your favorites among the millions of nonprofit fundraising appeals mailed to donors and prospects every year? How about the radio and television broadcast appeals for donations? I do! And I know why! Having five children of my own and one grandchild, I can't read a direct mail appeal letter or watch and listen to an electronic broadcast appeal from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital without being moved and tears coming to my eyes. The appeals move prospects to make a first gift, and current donors to repeat their giving... and give more! Every nonprofit organization can benefit from the techniques used by St. Jude CRH and adapt these to benefit their nonprofit. Here are some of them: 1. St. Jude CRH not only cares for and treats young patients for the cancers they suffer... St. Jude works to find permanent cures for those cancers. Is your nonprofit working to end hunger and poverty once and for all, or just treating the suffering? 2. St. Jude CRH collects and shares genuine testimonies of those most impacted by the cancers being treated--- and spotlights the progress being made on a personal level. Is your nonprofit animal rescue sharing the stories of abandonment and suffering of innocent cats and dogs, along with the joyful testimonies of those who adopt them? 3. St. Jude CRH conveys its message moving readers and viewers to trust that their gift will make a difference, moving toward children being treated and cured of cancers... And making one step closure to preventing and ending childhood cancers. Is your nonprofit serving victims of domestic violence conveying to its donors how its public education and legislative work is helping to put an end to domestic violence in addition to protecting and serving its victims? #fundraisingappeals #fundraising #nonprofits #nonprofitmarketing #donoracquisition #donorretention

In #BrainTumourAwarenessMonth, a reminder of this remarkable photograph by Stefania Distante MA which brought together three people whose lives have been shaped by a brain tumour diagnosis. Read the full story here - https://lnkd.in/eeW8X73V #BTAM #BrainTumourAwareness #SupportMatters #braintumour
This image was awarded an Honourable Mention at the IPA 2023 in the Fine Art Portrait category. Charlie is a great friend of mine! We became friends through a charity we both turned to in difficult and dark times. Brain Tumour Support is more than a charity, it is your chosen family, there to help you through some of the hardest times in life. They have launched a campaign to help save the support services they provide. They receive less than 1% of statutory funding because emotional support is not considered a fundamental and necessary service. If you have something to give, please support them. Go to their website, follow the name I tagged above. If you are a philanthropist, please get in touch. I will gladly share my story and the help I have received. #braintumoursupport #supportmatters #saveoursupport #support https://lnkd.in/d4e6dnJb

The news is out - I'm having a cancer recurrence. I'll be taking one-off clients through mid-March, while things settle. Want to help? Here are three ways: 1) Donate to the GoFundMe! This money goes directly to helping us with day to day bills and debt while my work load is reduced. https://lnkd.in/e_9QQbBK 2) Follow the CaringBridge page! I post requests for aid there. https://lnkd.in/eMUy6hx3 3) Refer a friend! I'm still doing career coaching - which is one of my very favorite things to do - on a one-off basis for the time being. Tell your friends to book time with me here for a reduced price: https://lnkd.in/eXNUkvAK Most importantly, keep praying.

Zavria's story is one of my FAVORITES! Zavria is five years old and lives in the Philippines. She was born with a lymphangioma on the left side of her neck, which prevented her from turning her head normally. Although it was non-cancerous it had impacted her life tremendously. In the summer of 2022, Maya's Hope helped raise funds for Sclerotherapy for her lymphangioma. The procedure was done on August 5th, and the initial result seemed positive. Unfortunately, after about a month the cyst grew bigger once more. Since Sclerotherapy did not work, the doctor advised that surgery would be the best option. November 2022 was a turning point for Zavria as she finally underwent the long-awaited surgery. The lump on her neck was successfully removed, filling this little girl's heart with pure joy! We are immensely grateful to our sponsors who made this incredible transformation possible. Your support has forever changed Zavria's life. #Success #MayasHope #EveryChildHasValue #MiraclesHappen #WeAreSoProud #ThankYou #ByYourSide #NotAlone #Disorder #UpsandDowns #Persistence #NeverGiveUp #foryou #medications #NYCnonprofit #USAcharity #USAnonprofit #NYCcharity #NYC #USA #Zavria #lymphangioma #surgery #funded

Raising money for Life Saving Top-Surgery. Please share. Here is a little bit about the lovely human: Hi my name is KC (he/him), I am trying to raise money for my top surgery. Top surgery is a significant aspect of gender-affirming care for many transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. For me, Top surgery involves the removal of breast tissue and the reshaping of the chest to create a more typically masculine appearance. For many transgender individuals, having a physical appearance that aligns with their gender identity is crucial for their mental health. Top surgery can significantly reduce gender dysphoria, improve daily interactions and reduce experiences of misgendering (being addressed or categorized by others as a gender other than one’s own). This procedure often leads to improvements in quality of life, self-esteem, and body image. Beyond the psychological impact, top surgery can increase physical comfort by reducing the discomfort that might come from binding/taping (compressing chest tissue to flatten chests). I am a transgender male. I was assigned female at birth and am a male (FTM Transgender). Here is a little bit about my story, I have experienced bullying and harassment for my gender and experienced significant body dysphoria. Moving into community housing only exacerbated these challenges, as residents would often question my gender identity openly and sing derogatory songs about me. This experience bullying, harassment, threats, pushed my mental health and I experienced a psychological crisis where I began experiencing psychosis, marked by both auditory and some visual hallucinations. During this period, I struggled to discern reality from hallucinations, which led to a traumatic hospital admission. I began gender-affirming hormone therapy six years ago, which proved transformative, significantly enhancing my comfort and alignment with my true self. However, the journey is not complete. Top surgery is not just a medical procedure for me but a crucial step towards my authenticity. Despite years of saving, the $15,000 cost remains a prohibitive barrier. This surgery represents more than just medical care; it is vital, life-affirming support that would immensely improve my quality of life and mental health. I am reaching out for help, hoping for the kindness and understanding that can enable me to turn a page and start a new chapter where I can live fully as my true self. Thank you for reading and considering supporting my fund. :) Here is the link: 🌈 https://gofund.me/0d5f5f34

Below was posted on my personal LI account, we just created a LI profile for the Foundation. Children with Cleft Lip/palate should not face stigma growing up as its addressable, but acute challenges in the developing world. We aim to demystify cleft where, when, why, and how. I come from a background that includes Fortune 500 companies, startup ecosystem, sustainability, ecommerce, etc., and will apply to a better place for such children, as my late brother's wishes. The purpose of the Foundation is (1) reducing the time and anxiety associated with finding information on Cleft Lip/Palate , from News to Research to Hospitals to Blogs to Non-Profit Foundations to Post Surgery Care to Support Groups to Family Messages to Countries, (2) partner with hospitals and medical practices associated with cleft treatment and (3) provide needs based donation, Ways to Donate, for qualified surgical procedures and post surgery care. My younger brother, Dr Faizi, was diagnosed with cancer at age of 11, treatment and prayers led to remission for 40 years. He dedicated his life to become a ‘special’ #children’s #doctor. Unfortunately, the cancer returned and he passed away, surrounded by the LOVE of his family and friends, on New Years Day 2024. As former- Chief of Craniofacial Pediatric Plastic Surgery, he was actively involved in resident and medical student education, and as the surgical director of annual cleft mission to Guatemala. His research interests focused on cleft and craniosynostosis anomalies, and he has published articles and presented at national and international conferences. The objectives of the non-profit Foundation, https://lnkd.in/eK3NEGvV, based in Utah, registration number 13913889-0140, tax id number 99-2338326 and 501(c)(3) approved charity. My brother's wish was to leave this place better than he found it, and he was able to do that... as he brought smiles to children and their families... I welcome your help, guidance, and assistance for this noble cause. CLEFT Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) International Comprehensive Cleft Care Workshop European Cleft Organisation #cleft
