Professor Ricard Cervera explains the value of our Lupus Hub: “We have been working very hard over the last year at the Lupus Hub. The Lupus Hub aims to deliver valuable, up-to-date information on the most exciting advances in lupus, making the hub a go-to site for all healthcare professionals in this space. In order to reach this objective, we have added updated information on the most recent trials on potential new drugs for lupus, including telitacicept, dapirolizumab pegol, zetomipzomib, baricitinib, and deucravacitinib, as well as additional information on the recently approved drugs for lupus, such as voclosporin and anifrolumab, and the new indications (lupus nephritis) for belimumab, the first biological drug approved for lupus. Obviously, CD19 CAR T-cell therapy has also received special attention at the Lupus Hub. We have also covered the EULAR and ACR Convergence Congresses and produced a webinar on low lupus disease activity vs remission as treat-to-target goals in lupus with the participation of our steering committee members.” #MedEd #Lupus #HCPeducation #MedComms

World J Hepatol presents that coffee reduced the risk of hepatoprotective properties(HCC). According to a meta-analysis done involving relevant studies from 1966 to 2007 indicated a 43% reduced risk of liver cancer with the consumption of two cups of coffee. Yet another meta-analysis performed involving ten studies with 2260 HCC cases and six case-control studies from southern Europe and Japan with 1551 cases and four cohort studies from Japan accounting for 709 cases also confirmed an association with decreased risk of liver cancer and coffee consumption. #coffee #Hepatocellularcarcinoma #Liver #Hepatitis #Fattyliver #mealzense

Positive results from the phase 1b/2a SELECT-HD trial assessing WVE-003 (Wave Life Sciences), an investigational first-in-class, allele-selective antisense oligonucleotide for Huntington disease, showed a significant reduction in mutant huntingtin protein and preserved healthy protein huntingtin protein in patients with HD, with no serious adverse events. https://lnkd.in/eb-taUTZ

🌟 Highlighting World Lupus Day - May 10th 🌟 Lupus, a complex and chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease, affects millions worldwide. SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) represents about 70% of cases. 9 out of 10 individuals affected by lupus are women. GSK's Benlysta and AstraZeneca's Saphnelo are currently the only drugs specifically approved for SLE treatment. There's still much ground to cover in highlighting the importance of early detection and expert medical care in managing lupus. Sadly, organ damage often affects many patients within five years of diagnosis, which is why early diagnosis and treatment is so critical. Many of our Alliance for Genomic Discovery partners, including MSD/Merck, are currently conducting trials for SLE, and are driving progress in further research. In this video, MSD's VP and Head of Data, A.I. & Genome Sciences, Iya Khalil sheds light on the collaborative effort required to understand the complexities of diseases like lupus, highlighting the potential of AI and ML at the discovery phase for uncovering new treatments.
