Last week we were at the Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC) in Kigali, Rwanda. Under the theme “Connected for Change”, it was an opportunity to meet our global health partners and other organisations who, like us, are working in partnership to help build long-term sustainable resilience in health systems to improve the treatment and prevention of diseases including malaria and TB, and diseases driving antimicrobial resistance (AMR). During the event, we led discussions around increasing African leadership in AMR through our work with AMREF , and how we are addressing the issue of zero dose children – those who’ve never had a vaccination – in Ethiopia and Nigeria with Save the Children UK. Here is what our panellists had to say about these two critical topics. 👇 Together, we’re committed to help change the trajectory of high burden diseases in lower income countries. The burden of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in adults has long been underestimated and under-recognised. "The fight against RSV isn’t just about science; it’s about arming people with knowledge and options to understand the power of prevention and take control of their health," says Dr Yan Sergerie, Vice President of Global Medical Affairs Lead for RSV at GSK. We're committed to exploring new ways to combat RSV and to help optimise patient outcomes and population health. 🔗 Learn more: https://gsk.to/3Fn8Ips

HIV remains one of the world’s biggest health threats. While great strides have been made in HIV treatment, with people living with HIV on effective treatment able to live long and full lives, stigma remains a challenge. Fear of harsh judgement and discrimination associated with HIV can prevent many people from getting tested and diagnosed, as well as starting and staying on treatment. Find out how we are addressing these barriers by minimising the impact of HIV on people’s lives through treatment, prevention and ultimately cure: 🔗 https://gsk.to/4hko9fi #CROI2025

In the mid-1990s, Dr. Kimberly Smith diagnosed Beth, her patient, with AIDS after she was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. Not only did Beth have difficulty tolerating her medicines, but she also lived in fear of her diagnosis, especially after she adopted a son. Her wish – in addition to living a healthy life – was to be able to see him graduate from university. Today, Beth is thriving, healthy – and, most importantly for her, she made it to her son’s graduation. A turning point in her success, she shared, was in large part because of a long-acting therapy she had access to. In this Behind the Science article, Dr Smith describes the huge impact her Research and Development team have made – and will continue to make – for patients, and just how far their ambitions go 👇 🔗 https://gsk.to/3FbUVlq

On #InternationalWomensDay, we’re highlighting GSK and ViiV Healthcare’s (HIV company majority owned by GSK) continued commitment to helping women make informed decisions about their health. Clinical data on the use of HIV medications during pregnancy or lactation is limited. ViiV Healthcare is spearheading an approach that encourages the inclusion of pregnant women in relevant Phase III clinical trials. Data from these trials will help women living with HIV make informed decisions with their healthcare providers, on the use and access to HIV medications. By actively involving women in our clinical studies, we aim to inspire confidence in the use of innovative HIV medicines for those who need it most. Our commitment to global health and making a positive impact on communities in need is shared by our passionate employees. Through our #TrekForHealth initiative in partnership with ViiV Healthcare, our team of 40 employees conquered the incredible challenge of a 75km trek up Mount Kenya, the second highest peak in Africa. But this expedition meant more than just climbing a mountain. It was an opportunity to raise funds in support of the remarkable work of AMREF in Kenya and to Save the Children UK’s emergency fund and country programmes. Our trekkers had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the impactful projects carried out by AMREF in Nyeri county. Join us in celebrating this achievement and recognising the power of collective action for global health. Watch their journey: https://gsk.to/4kxCxDK
