▶ What new technologies can optimize the flexible utilization of energy from solar and wind, and how can we improve our ability to store it? These are some of the questions shaping the currently disrupted energy market, with both the research sector and private companies attempting to gain an overview and predict developments. It's not easy – but a new initiative might make the task slightly easier: Norlys Energy Trading A/S, an Aalborg-based company owned by Norlys and Eurowind Energy, has in March employed the first four staff members in its brand-new research and development unit, Energy ResearchLab. Aalborg University contributes with research to shed light on the future energy system, and the Head of Department, Lasse Rosendahl, sees it as "a superb example of focused collaboration with the business sector on research." Professor Frede Blaabjerg also sees significant perspectives for energy educational programs: - Normally, our students have to find companies interested in hiring, for example, a business PhD, themselves. Now, Norlys Energy Trading is reaching out to us in a context where research has great importance for the future of energy. That's truly interesting! The collaboration will give students access to far more real datasets, unique opportunities to research future energy forms, and notably new job opportunities, he expects. Among the first employees at Energy ResearchLab is Monika Sandelic, who has completed a master's in Energy & Engineering at AAU and has just finished her PhD studies. She now has the opportunity to continue in a business postdoc position at Norlys Energy Trading. ▶ Watch this Danish news segment from Monday evening: https://lnkd.in/dZwZn3iT Read more at https://lnkd.in/eDfHJZTk

A renewable energy project that promised to change history seems to have failed. At the moment, there is only desert and an apparent loss of 2 billion dollars. Human beings are going through a period of energy transition. We need energy and several initiatives have already appeared that promise to exploit infinite and renewable energy. However, not all the proposals that appear to try to meet human needs are successful. Sometimes they fall by the wayside due to lack of budget, impossibility of exploitation or disparity of opinions among the agents involved. The latter is the problem that has led a renewable project with great potential to be put on standby. https://lnkd.in/drHceyeV
The largest renewable energy project in history fails: only desert is left and we have lost $2 billion
