I was at the 2024 Edves Catalyst event where I made a presentation on "FINANCIAL RESILIENCE FOR SCHOOL LEADERS: LEVERAGING FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY” To start with, I defined Financial Resilience as the ability to withstand or recover from unexpected events (e.g. income loss, unplanned expenses, economic downturns) that could disrupt one’s finances, without falling into poverty or significant financial distress. Financial Management on the other hand is the ability to strategically manage one’s financial resources to maximize profit and ensure sustainability. It is therefore safe to say that financial management plays a crucial role in achieving financial resilience; hence, one must adopt necessary tools, and strategies to build resilience against financial shocks and uncertainties. The question is, how can schools become financially resilient? Here are some of my thoughts: 🔹Explore possible sources of income Schools should be more creative by identifying other areas to generate revenue, aside tuition fees; however, this should be done without exploiting parents/students. Schools can generate revenue by offering expanded education programs (e.g. Online courses, after-school programs or through partnerships), selling of school branded merchandise, school facility rentals or even exploring new business ideas. 🔹Keep Good Financial Records Schools must ensure proper accounting of all income and expenses. This would make it easier to monitor and understand school’s financial status and helps them to take appropriate measures to ensure financial stability. These records include income statements, cashflow, account receivables, budget vs actual report etc. 🔹Consider local market first As much as possible, except where it is clearly unavoidable, schools should prioritize sourcing for their educational tools locally to reduce the pressure from FCY conversion rates, especially with the current economic uncertainties. 🔹Apply for only necessary loans – Proper financial management can prevent schools from applying for unnecessary loans and avoid the risk of misappropriation of fund which could lead to non-repayment. Schools can plan and make informed decisions with available funds while creating a more stable and sustainable learning environment 🔹Leverage technology Schools can improve their financial resilience by leveraging technological tools such as Digital Payment Systems to manage collections and School Management Systems for online classes/assignments and all administrative and financial management processes etc. At Globus Bank, we are happy to provide you with the technological solutions that would help you manage your school more effectively and efficiently, as well as ensure financial resilience for your school Wouldn't you rather reach out to us @Globus Bank today? #FinancialResilience #FinancialManagement #TechnologySolutions #DigitalPaymentSolutions #SchoolManagementSolution #GlobusBank https://lnkd.in/dfejfBT4

Maximising the Impact of Open Events on the Learner Journey Open events serve as crucial touchpoints in the learner journey, offering prospective students a glimpse into the educational experience and culture of an institution. However, the effectiveness of these events can vary significantly, with some turning potential learners on while others may inadvertently turn them off. At EdMap Pro, we understand the importance of optimising open events to ensure they leave a positive impression on attendees. From the moment prospective students walk through the door, every interaction matters. From engaging presentations and informative workshops to interactive demonstrations and campus tours, open events should be carefully designed to showcase the unique strengths and offerings of the institution. But the work doesn't stop there. It's essential to gather feedback from open events and use this data to make informed, data-driven decisions. Are attendees leaving feeling inspired and informed, or are there areas for improvement? By collecting feedback and analysing it systematically, colleges can identify strengths and weaknesses in their open event strategies and adjust accordingly. Ultimately, the goal is to create open events that not only attract potential learners but also leave them excited about the prospect of joining the college. By focusing on delivering engaging, informative experiences and leveraging data to continuously improve, colleges can maximise the impact of their open events on the learner journey. At EdMap Pro, we elevate Further Education Colleges by improving learner satisfaction, increasing advocacy, and maximising resource utilisation.
