Hey! Look at me, I was “on the radio” this past November 2023, for 30 whole minutes describing my worst of times: severe concussions from 1973 and 1983 car wrecks, and a major life crash following a 2006 brain surgery. Amy Zellmer is dedicated to helping people who have had brain trauma due to surgeries, accidents, falls, and childhood injuries. If you ever had a brain injury, or know of someone who has, it may give you important insights. BTW, you don’t need to be “knocked out” to have a concussion, so you might qualify. Concussions/injuries are not “one off,” as symptoms recur, and mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) is often not caught by ER docs. I explore how the medical community misses this important piece of our histories, and how shame from resulting dysfunction keeps people (me included) from getting the help they need. For those who have known me for decades, and didn’t know all about this aspect of my life, it may explain a lot. If you resonate with this topic, all her podcasts are fascinating and helpful. As always, if you wish to discuss your own response, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly: cynthia@cynthiawall.com. #traumaticbraininjury #tbi #braininjury
