Did you know that 15% to 20% of the world’s population is neurodivergent? Yet, many neurodivergent women go undiagnosed or may mask their differences, facing unique barriers in their careers. In my latest Fortune piece, I share the challenges these women may face and how employers can support them. At EY, we’re committed to neuro-inclusion. By prioritizing open dialogue, updating policies, and promoting more psychological safety, we work to create an inclusive environment where women who identify as neurodivergent can shine. I’m passionate about fostering a workplace where everyone can thrive. This work is not just a professional duty but a personal commitment to ensuring everyone can bring their whole selves to work and drive our organizations forward. Let’s embrace neuro-inclusion together! Read more: https://lnkd.in/eGsfWfQT #BetterWorkingWorld #Neurodiversity #Inclusion

International Women’s Day is as old as the W.W. II (circa 1945) & the U.N. started formally celebrating it in 1975. It’s even a public holiday in many countries around the world. While the official theme changes every year ever so subtly, gender parity is perhaps at the heart of it. I often wonder & have mixed feelings about it every year: Should one continue to celebrate or acknowledge it for a day, or the relevance has passed. Not an easy answer & no one answer is correct. Here is what I believe, on the day itself. Women represent the ultimate 'strength/shakti', juggling multiple life roles with aplomb. She is a mother and a homemaker more often than not, as she travels through life stages. Yet she goes far beyond. Already excelling in every conceivable public & professional sphere, from Medicine to the Army, from Education to Social Welfare, be it Sports or Science, more women today celebrate themselves and a mere day in a year is perhaps no longer enough to celebrate her. At HMD (Human Mobile Devices), we ensure we do whatever we can, externally: investing early in the girl child's education through our various corporate initiatives such as scholarship programmes to underprivileged sections and providing smart devices for continuous learning, internally we embrace diversity at our own workplace, encouraging flexibility which enables the juggling of multiple roles that a woman switches between; we strive to make small steps in conducting sessions on health screenings, better financial planning, work-life balance workshops & more such initiatives. Women are also at the heart of any family engagements at HMD, be it the unique Sunshine Day involving everyone's young children or any other function we celebrate our women really make it vibrant and extra special. I feel every day is a celebration for every woman working with us & we hope to continue to take small strides forward, Har Din is Her Din. #HerDin #inspireInclusion #IWD2024 #HMD

It's neurodiversity celebration week and I'm feeling pretty cr*p about it. My clients are being refused PA support and I know this will enable them to thrive. These clients are all women. Does society realise that neurodivergent women are expected to take the admin load at home, in addition to work? 🍌 We constantly feel like we fall behind the expectations of others. 🍌 Sometimes we excel to the point where we appear worthy of the label "superpower", yet the next day fall unbelievably short. 🍌 Many of us experience suicidal thoughts, yet this isn't dealt with in the context of our neurodivergency - ie our executive functioning capabilities. 🍌 Businesses refuse to understand the linkage between their bottom line and the relatively small levels of investment needed to enable a neurodivergent to thrive. The stats prove we are money drivers. A neurodivergent strategy is not a marketing tool. You will see real time results from implementing an inclusive policy, and crucially, enforcing it. Here endeth the lesson.

Today's Healing Healthcare #TOTD Goooooodbye to the Glass Ceiling. ⌛ The glass ceiling refers to an invisible but significant barrier that prevents certain groups, particularly women and minorities, from reaching the upper echelons of leadership and career advancement within organizations. Despite advancements in gender equality and diversity initiatives, the glass ceiling persists in many industries and workplaces, limiting opportunities for qualified individuals to ascend to top leadership positions. 😤 This barrier is often rooted in systemic biases, stereotypes, and institutionalized discrimination that create hurdles for women and minorities to overcome in their professional journeys. Factors such as unconscious bias in hiring and promotion practices, lack of access to mentorship and sponsorship opportunities, and unequal pay contribute to the reinforcement of the glass ceiling. 🧐 For women, in particular, the glass ceiling manifests in various forms, including fewer opportunities for career advancement, limited representation in executive roles, and a persistent gender pay gap. Women often face challenges balancing work and family responsibilities, which can further impede their progress towards leadership positions. 🚫 Breaking through the glass ceiling requires concerted efforts from both individuals and organizations. It entails challenging traditional gender roles, advocating for policies that promote diversity and inclusion, and fostering supportive environments where all employees have equal opportunities to succeed. Additionally, mentorship programs, leadership development initiatives, and transparent promotion processes can help mitigate the effects of the glass ceiling and create pathways for advancement for women and minorities. 🤼♀️ 👩💼 Ultimately, dismantling the glass ceiling is essential not only for achieving gender equality but also for fostering innovation, driving organizational success, and creating a more equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive based on their merits and contributions. Have you ever faced the glass ceiling? #healinghealthcare #glassceiling #leadership #healthleadership #leadershipdevelopment #changemakers #womeninleadership #innovation #equity #equality #genderpaygap #cdnhealth #physicians #nurses #executiveleadership #inequality #inequity #thoughtoftheday #TOTD #letsconnect #jointheconversation #whatdoyouthink
