"About Women in HVACR Since 2002, Women in HVACR has worked to increase the number of women in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigerant (HVACR) industry and empower women to succeed by providing members with a variety of opportunities to network and develop a professional environment through education and mentorship. The 1,200-member nonprofit organization holds a variety of regional and national events each year and provides scholarship opportunities for women who pursue careers within the HVACR industry, including those who seek engineering and business degrees or a trade school education. 🎉 We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Young Women Lead 2024 report: Young Women’s Democratic Wellbeing in Scotland! Coined by Carnegie UK, ‘democratic wellbeing’ encompasses the ‘voice’ we have in public life and decisions that affect us. In this new report, we look at the topic specifically through the lens of young women. This year our 2024 Young Women Leaders from across Scotland have explored various topics around this theme, and in order to address and improve young women's democratic wellbeing they want politicians and decision-makers to: 🗣️ Meaningfully consult with young women about their wants and needs before making decisions for and about them, including providing incentivised participation mechanisms for those who would not ordinarily engage in politics. 💡 Meet young women where they are at in their communities, engaging with them in an accessible way that meets their needs. 📲 Prioritise a culture that centres digital wellbeing, ensuring that young women feel safe online and able to access and benefit from engaging in digital spaces. ➡️ Read the full report and recommendations: https://lnkd.in/eDzeMySq Young Women Lead is a feminist leadership programme delivered by The Young Women’s Movement in collaboration with Scottish Parliament.

Did you know that there are 5,964 IT businesses in the UK with female founders? 💡 Sounds a lot, right? 🙌 What if I told you that this figure relates to only 15% of the 39,926 businesses in this space? 😯 How do we encourage more women to build their own practices in a male-dominated space? It goes without saying, diverse teams get better results. In fact, according to Forbes, diverse teams deliver 60% better results and make better decisions in 87% of cases. With that in mind, how do we level the playing field? 🤔 We need to do more to shout about the amazing work female founders in IT are doing. Initiatives like the CRN UK Women of the Channel Awards are a start. But do they go far enough?

In daunting times, may we remember that being a woman doesn't make you weak. It is our superpower! May we remember of our inherent strength, fearlessness, and limitless potential. As we draw inspiration from the courage and resilience of women who have come before us and those who continue to blaze trails across various sectors of society and in different fields, we must also remember that the journey is far from over Many women and girls around the world still face significant barriers to realizing their full potential. From disparities in education and healthcare to underrepresentation in leadership roles and the workforce, these barriers continue to hold them back. Empowered women, empower women. In whatever capacity, let us all commit to the work that remains. Let us support policies that promote fairness and access to key resources, organizations that champion equality and equity, and programs that mentor young girls Here's to the power of being a woman, the courage to face the unknown, and to the unstoppable force we become when we unite for a common cause. “For there to be an increase in the number of women in business, it will be necessary to start nurturing creativity earlier, integrate the topic among younger generations, and support women in programs that look at women as a whole. Being a woman in business means having someone within the company with unique skills, someone resilient and multifaceted, which are fascinating skills to have running or in management positions inside a company. For this to happen, society must look at women as people with the same values as men. This needs to change: a culture in terms of gender equality, a culture that is very formatted and focused on men leading businesses.
