Project Kuiper at Amazon | Battery Management, Controls and Modeling | Advanced Controls and Estimation | MBA and Certified PMP®️
In electric vehicle applications the time between key-off and key-on might not be sufficiently long such that the battery reaches full equilibrium state. This poses a significant challenge on the state initialization problem for model-based battery state estimation, particularly state-of-charge. Keying on during the relaxation period prevents direct use of open-circuit-voltage (OCV) based SOC initialization. A possible solution to reduce SOC initialization inaccuracy can be found in a recent patent that was granted where my co-author Gabrielle Vuylsteke and I proposed a method that leverages a model of the relaxation period to predict the term in the output voltage equation that relates to the relaxation decay and solve for the OCV, thus allowing to use the OCV/SOC look-up tables to initialize the state-of-charge estimation algorithm. Ateme's more efficient HEVC and AV1 encoding engines are set to replace AVC in all uses across newer versions of Titan Live and Titan File encoders. **Update**: In attemping to emphasize support for next-gen codecs, Ateme majorly fudged the statement it made about replacing H.264, which it turns out was a poorly worded attempt at saying AVC will be replaced at some unspecified timeframe. Who'da thunk it? HOWEVER, that does not detract from the prevaling strategy that Ateme is deemphasizing low-margin customers in Asia Pacific and Latin America, where investments will be reduced (probably means lay-offs), in favor of driving high-margin business in the US and Europe.

Sophisticated Inductive Switch Device Features Strong Stray Field Immunity The Induxis MLX92442 from MELEXIS presents engineers a highly integrated, streamlined solution for contactless inductive switching. It provides a longer lifespan, wear-and-tear free alternative to conventional electro-mechanical components, and avoids the complexity and bulkiness of a magnetic approach. With no moving parts or excess components, the MLX92442 offers continued reliability alongside subsystem compactness and lower overall bill-of-materials (BoM) costs. Its operation is also not affected by potential sources electro-magnetic interference. This automotive-grade device, which complies with ISO26262 ASIL A functional safety requirements, can be employed in...
