One of my favorite ways to kick off a new year is to read John Battelle’s #SearchBog where he makes his predictions about how the ad tech/advertising/marketing/publishing industry will evolve. Historically, pretty accurate predictions, too, although his 2023 prognostications weren’t as typically prescient as in previous years. Of his nine 2024 predictions, which can be accessed on the link below, two that I really like are: 6) Bright Spots Emerge in Media …“the environment is ripe for smaller, high-quality publications to emerge. AI-driven made-for-advertising content will likely drive a stake into the already attenuated heart of “at-scale” publishers like G/O, Buzzfeed and Vice, and as high-quality voices begin to realize they’ve traded one corrupt platform for another (say, Buzzfeed for Substack), they’ll continue an emerging trend of banding together and creating professional outlets that can build true relationships with their audience.”… 8) Enterprise Data Moves Beyond Marketing…”this coming year we’ll see at least a few touchstone examples of data-driven applications from enterprise players that change the way B2B leaders consider justifying their investments in IT. And for once, it won’t be to make a marketing campaign more efficient.”… Start your year on your front foot by reading all of John’s predictions here. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/etpRhMbY

Crypto is not about the tech. It's about the people. Look around, and you’ll notice every chain, every project – arm-wrestling for the attention of a tiny slice of tech-savvy early adopters. It's like we've built a five-star restauranntt in the middle of the desert. Fantastic menu, world-class chefs. But we forgot one crucial ingredient: CUSTOMERS. I've seen brilliant projects wither on the vine. Not because their tech wasn't solid but because they couldn't crack the user acquisition code. If Web3 doesn't solve distribution, none of the other innovations matter. Your amazing tech means nothing without users. And right now, nearly every chain is chasing the same limited group. So, how do you stand out in such a crowded space? It's simple: - Be different, but more importantly, be strategic. - Focus on niches overlooked by others. - Build real relationships, not just networks. - Listen to your users—what do they crave? - What problems keep them up at night? I once pivoted our marketing strategy based on a casual conversation with a user. It felt risky, almost reckless, but the results were undeniable. We saw engagement spikes, not because we shouted louder, but because we spoke directly to those who needed us most. Remember, every great technology started with solving a human need. Electricity didn't sell itself on being "decentralized power distribution." It promised to light up people's lives. What does human need do your project address? How are you reaching those who need it most? -------------------------------------------------------------------- I help founders find and engage their unique audience through organic content. Prediction marketplace Polymarket, which lets users bet on real-world events, is partnering with AI-powered search engine Perplexity to display news summaries of events. Polymarket is also creating a column using Perplexity’s Pages feature (it lets users create sharable pages from search results) that will be displayed on Perplexity’s Discover page. This tie-up follows a similar partnership for Polymarket that saw Substack letting writers embed prediction data from the prediction marketplace in their posts. For Perplexity, Polymarket will be an API customer, and the AI search engine will generate revenue from API calls made by users looking at events and asking questions on the prediction marketplace. Perplexity has faced criticism recently for scraping the web without explicit consent from some publishers. At the same time, Polymarket has witnessed a surge in activity following its Series B raise in May, led by Founder’s Fund. #AI #PredictiveAnalytics #Partnership #Innovation #Perplexity #Polymarket

There’s a new word for ROI: Data. Monetization has quietly been overhauled over the past decade. It started with companies like Google and Meta(Facebook), and we’re seeing it transitioned into companies that have operated so far into the red their investors could only dream of turning a profit like Uber. But Uber did turn a profit in 2023 and—like many other tech companies and social platforms—investors were championing data as the use case. Now we’re entering heavily into another disruption event. AI and AR aren’t being shouted about to the masses loudly enough. Machines are taking over, and it’s not the John Connor Terminator type with humanistic features you can easily identify as the villains of a dystopian future. Rather, these machines are largely silent. Large Language Models are algorithms trained on endless swaths of user data. Data pools, like the ones at Reddit, Inc., are highly monetizable assets due to their segmentation and historical tracking. They know what you’ve said, when you’ve said it, to whom, on what thread, the context, the memes, your plans, your dog’s name, your IP address, and your likes(and dislikes). These data points, among others, allow LLM’s to infer many other things about possibilities of who a user is and will be. So, for the curious, data is the new term for ROI. LinkedIn and Microsoft know more about us than most of the people that attend our birthdays and family reunions. Here’s 60 million reasons why⬇️ #dataanalytics #languagemodels #artificialintelligence #augmentedreality #machinelearning #anonymous #data #databases #llm #iponews #venturecapital #consulting #futuretechnology #socialmedia #tech
