We need to stimulate critical thinking
This is a scene from the movie "Detachment" (2011), featuring Adrien Brody as a substitute teacher who finds a connection with his students with a simple message that rings true today. With all the doctored/tailored narratives in form of news and views and garbage circulated on Media and Social media , this message is very important to remember. Social media is a drug that we ingest visually and are numbed to interpret intellectually. And therein lies the downward spiral for humanity.

Fun fact for Back to School (for all the parents on LinkedIn)- Kids who regularly participate in the arts are four times more likely to excel academically, participate in math and science fairs, or win awards for their writing. I think this belongs on LinkedIn, as I recently overheard a parent lamenting that their son is "really into art, but how is that ever going to help him with a job". Y'all. Seriously. Art teaches us how to fail. And how to try again. And how to iterate and revise and edit, and how to dream up something new. Art is the glue that helps us use all those cool tools (like algebraic expressions and proper grammar) that we learn in our "core" classes. It's the "why" behind the "how". So if your kid is SUPER into art class (or music, or theater), maybe you have a little entrepreneur on your hands. Let's all nurture this next crop of innovators together. #BacktoSchool #Education #Entrepreneur #ArtsEducation #FutureSuccess #Creativity
