As the 2023-2024 school year comes to an end, GS students recently celebrated their graduation to the first grade. Emotions ran high as students walked across the stage to accept their diplomas and can now look forward to returning as CP students this fall. Congratulations to all!

Introducing: The Council of Presidents’ College in the High School (CiHS) Equivalencies Tool! On one, easy-to-access webpage, you can see how college courses offered in high schools transfer among all six of Washington's 4-year public colleges and universities: https://ow.ly/ak8K50RV53R
This will help students and their families know how college courses taken through CiHS programs award college credit and how those credits transfer. It'll also help principals, school counselors, and other advisors know how credits transfer when deciding on the master schedule.
The more information Washingtonians have, the better they can plan their postsecondary journey, so our state can get to 70% credential attainment by the high school class of 2030! #Pathto70#CredentialEssential

Director, Research-Practice Partnerships, Melbourne Metrics (University of Melbourne)
Last week, hundreds of secondary schools joined us online to explore what might be beyond the ATAR.
It is clear there is great interest - from a broad range of stakeholders - in the utility of new metrics and learner profiles in tertiary admissions, and the implications for schooling should we broaden our definition of learning success at senior secondary.

By and large parents are covering the majority of their kids’ college education. Let us help you make a plan that gives them the greatest chance to succeed. http://spr.ly/6043jyI29
*Planning and Progress Study, 2024.
So many of my friends have kids now, or are planning to have them soon, and there's an undeniable stress in all of them about their kids' education. Our bloated, outdated system is not helping their kids succeed; it's adding stress, pressure and anxiety; and quite frankly, is stealing their childhood.
I've always had a twinkling inkling that something was wrong with the education system. I remember begging to be sent to boarding school growing up, and then working my butt off to get the SIA Youth scholarship... Even then, I knew there must be something better out there.
I've tried a few things over the years to do my part as an educator - research, teaching, designing curricula, and most recently, designing a content universe for ECE. But I could never really get to the heart of the problem. Tutoring, or delivering the same content in different, more exciting ways, or improving assessment outcomes, all feel like stop-gap measures that miss the point. Miss what's actually wrong with the system.
The real gap I see in the ecosystem is a conversation about fundamentals. What is education for? Why do we need it? Does it need to be centralized, or to each his own? Why do we learn what we learn?
Until we talk seriously and in detail about these questions, we won't be able to find sustainable, resilient designs for an education system we could actually use. And so.
I have taken to YouTube to start talking about first principles, and to build a community around imagining alternative futures for education in the world. Please join me there. Let's talk.
