This is especially true when the term “affordable” is attached to the word housing. It’s a trigger term in our society, prompting loaded debates about broader issues beyond simply owning a home. Every time I go to a housing conference, developers, builders and syndicators tell me how difficult it is to develop affordable housing in Pennsylvania. 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania and the PA Housing Choices Coalition wants to figure out why and how can we fix it. We're looking for your perspective on land use barriers to increasing housing supply, as well as discovering those proven successful programs, legislation, or ordinances that are working well in other states and regions. Our goal is to find viable solutions for Pennsylvania to develop more attainable housing for everyone, in the right places (with transportation and infrastructure). Please take a few minutes to complete our survey (link below). Or if you're feeling feisty, tell me your horror stories in the comments. If you're very interested in this topic and would like to get involved or learn more, DM or email me for more information about the coalition and upcoming events.
