I've analysed dozens of franchise brands' lead generation processes over the last 4 months, and one mistake stands out among 9/10 franchise brands running paid meta ads: 1. Requesting too much information upfront. Many ask for full name, email, phone, available capital, desired territory, and more. It's simply too much. Since you're paying for clicks, maximize registrations. You can always enrich the contact later with follow up high-value content offers. 2. Rushing to book a sales call immediately after a lead submits their details. I believe this stems from the "speed to lead" mantra in franchising, but remember, cold traffic is just that - cold! They may not even be fully problem-aware or brand-aware yet. They likely just saw something intriguing and decided to check it out. Franchisors must reframe their view of the top of the funnel. At this stage, look for sparks of interest, not sales. Here's the reality: - Cold leads are not buyers. - Only warm leads will take your call, and only hot leads will become franchisees. - In addition to lead generation, you need a system to "warm up" cold traffic into warm leads. So what should you do instead? Here's the fix: 1. Keep the form to just name, email, and phone. 2. Redirect the lead to a brief survey or follow up with one to open a dialogue. Ask 3-5 simple, non-sales focused questions like: - What sparked your interest in our brand? - How familiar are you with franchising? - Have you owned a business before? - Why are you looking into starting a business now? This low-pressure approach kicks off the conversation and can be followed by deeper information as you guide them through your funnel. Implement this and watch your ghost leads decrease, real contact info submissions increase, and lead engagement rise. Pro tip: You can fully automate this process using AI software.
