Even when you think the first candidate you interview checks all the boxes, many times it’s worth meeting more. You may not realize it, but you could be feeling the pressure to hire. Interviewing? A word of warning here Just because someone is good at interviewing doesn’t make them a great candidate for the role. It can be that candidates appear good due to having high charisma or have done a lot of interviews. Regardless of the camaraderie, focus on them hitting the criteria you need of experience and being able to articulate what they have done, rather than how well they “come across”. The reason I say this is that I have hired prior, people who come across well and because of that I have not drilled into the details as they do incredibly well in being passionate and avoiding the details. Unfortunately, I have seen many a #privateequity firm do the same usually, I hear, that we had a perfect candidate who came across so well and talked the talk but couldn’t walk the walk. Do not get me wrong, executive search firms getting this wrong and then firms turning to Raw Selection to fix it and do it correctly has won me many a private equity firm, but learn from their mistakes and not your own. #privateequity #hiring

The bar is very low for recruiters (fortunately or unfortunately) Just last week, we had a client shift their business to us... Because another previous firm was late in starting a video call for an interview. Yes, late to starting their own client / candidate's interview! It left such a sour taste with the client. (rightfully so) Now -- the bar is low, too low in fact, in the recruitment world. This is both our advantage and our Achilles' heel. It allows us to exceed expectations effortlessly, but winning trust upfront is a game of patience and persistence. In our first candidate interview with them, were 5 minutes early.
