🌄 I climb the Great Sand Dunes, known for their daunting altitude (2,200 meters sea level)and the unique challenge of trekking through heavy sand. With every step forward, the sinking sand pulled me back, making progress a struggle.
Halfway through, gasping for breath due to the high altitude and unsteady ground, I realised I need to adjust my pace.
This realisation on the dunes reminded me of an important lesson, applicable to starting a new project, collaborating with a new client, or undertaking unfamiliar work. Every progression presents unique challenges. Some paths are steep with obstacles, while others are gradual and steady.
I reminded myself that the key to overcoming challenges is having a clear strategy—adjusting my pace, understanding the landscape, and persistently moving forward.
This principle applies to complex high-value deals too.
Every account has its own terrain of complexity. It might be frustrating and seem like a long cycle with multiple stakeholders, but the right strategy, process, behaviors, and persistence can turn even the most complex sales opportunities into rewarding journeys.
