"For the two pollutants with the highest documented impact on human health, PM2.5 and NO2, the annual limit values are to be more than halved from 25 µg/m³ to 10 µg/m³ and from 40 µg/m³ to 20 µg/m³ respectively. " Will Turkey follow this change?

At the hearth of CleanCloud ACI, there is the awareness that we are entering a new era, the post-fossil era, where strong reductions in fossil fuel combustion promote the effect of natural #aerosols - levels of which can differ substantially from the preindustrial era. These changes carry important consequences for extreme weather and climate . The new agreement between the European Parliament and the European Council is a solid step towards the post-fossil era, improving air quality and the human health.

🌎 The World Health Organization estimates that by 2030, we could be facing a 40% global freshwater shortfall. ⏳ More than 2 billion people around the world are living in cities that could be facing Day Zero events in the next ten years. 💧 We need to start thinking about our water differently. Our CEO & Co-Founder Alex Rappaport emphasizes the importance of innovative membrane technologies in tackling water treatment challenges in our latest YouTube video. The facts are pouring in. This global human health crisis is driven by corporate grid and ill Conceived quasi regulations. Why are we acting as if this is not the catastrophic war on our families and wellbeing it is ?” “We aim to demonstrate to policymakers that the health effects of different sources of pollution can be quantified and can form the basis for a source-oriented guidance, and potentially policy, for harm reduction and avoidance.”

Interesting review article published in The Lancet - Planetary Health on measuring environmentally sustainable health care. The study highlights the urgent need for standardized definitions and measurements to reduce environmental pollution from health systems. '' Various nascent national and international reporting schemes for sustainability in health care exist, but none has yet produced standardised, understandable, actionable, and comparable metrics. To guide and facilitate progress on this topic, a clear operational definition of environmentally sustainable health care is needed, as well as robust, comparable, and timely measurements, to support the most effective policies, measure progress, and benchmark success.'' Recognizing their prevalence, impact, and preventive measures is pivotal for public health. Disease Landscape offers insights into their incidence, patterns, and risk factors, aiding in identifying vulnerable groups and crafting targeted interventions. Market insights and forecasts are instrumental in assessing the economic implications of these diseases, informing policy decisions, and advocating sustainable practices to mitigate environmental risks and enhance public health outcomes.

My health, my right
At 7:th of April we acknowledge WHO World Health Day 2024 - My health, my right There is a direct relationship between health and environmental management, in that all environmental impacts threatens our health, directly or indirectly. The standard ISO 14008 provides guidance on how to evaluate monetary costs of environmental impacts, including impacts on human health, and on the built and natural environment. Impacts on the built and natural environment often indirectly also affects human health, in the short or long run. WHO encourages to promote the right to health as an intrinsic pillar of our broader human rights, including your right to bodily autonomy and integrity WHO also recommends governments to, from an environmental point of view, stop subsidizing fossil fuel to instead promote energy solutions with more manageable health impacts, such as solar-, hydro- and wind-based electricity generation. Governments may also shift to more health promoting transports, such as building up cycling infrastructure and support pedestrianization. NEW STUDY from Stanford University scientists offers the most precise national picture yet of how much NO2 families across the US are exposed to just from gas and propane stoves. It’s bleak: Simply #CookingWithGas can expose you to three-quarters of the World Health Organization’s long-term exposure limit. The more you cook with gas, the more #IndoorAirPollution you breathe in. https://nyti.ms/3yj9JeG
Gas Stove Pollution Risk Is Greatest in Smaller Homes, Study Finds

New publication alert! 🚨 Our paper estimates health burden and associated costs related to the #carbonfootprint of #healthsystems across the European Union. This is especially relevant due to the need for health buildings to operate 24/7 to cater to populations’ health needs, requiring them to be #climateresilient and future proof. We used four scenarios based on IPCC’s report and EU’s 55% reduction target to calculate the additional #diseaseburden derived from greenhouse gas emissions from the activities carried out by the health sector. This alerts for the need for additional measures to decrease this impact, including: ✍🏻 Improved guidelines and green policies at the institution level, including green procurement ✍🏻 Inclusion of specific provisions for health care buildings in the revisions of European Directives, i.e. energy efficiency, energy performance of buildings, and the corporate sustainability due diligence ✍🏻 Additional #funding directed to the #greentransition in the health sector ✍🏻 Investment in strengthening #publichealth activities, with a focus on health protection and promotion, and disease prevention Thank you Susana Viegas, Orsolya Varga and Mariana O. Corda for co-producing this piece of work! Calling the attention of European Commission and EPRS European Parliamentary Research Service these important points for more evidence-informed policies.
