"Effective linkage of climate and health to save lives requires innovation and collaboration between areas of government that do not always work together, or even speak the same language. And it requires funders, multilateral agencies and academia from across the world to come together in solidarity." - Manisha Bhinge, The Rockefeller Foundation. We were pleased to contribute to the 2024 Global Solidarity Report by Global Nation, and to share our perspective on how #data and #AI can build shared purpose by tackling urgent, intersectional problems like #climate and #health. data.org’s Executive Director, Danil Mikhailov, was recently invited to lead a workshop on financial inclusion for Rise, an initiative of Schmidt Futures and Rhodes Trust. Rise is a key component of Schmidt Futures' $1 billion commitment to identify and nurture global talent. By focusing on pressing global issues like financial inclusion, Rise aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders and changemakers. The session, "Unlocking the Potential of the Finverse," engaged young innovators in exploring data-driven solutions to address #data challenges in #financialinclusion. During the workshop, participants explored innovative approaches to: 📊 Develop responsible data collection strategies in the financial sector 📊 Utilize non-traditional data sources for credit scoring 📊 Create new methods for gathering financial data in underserved communities The session engaged participants in discussion of ways to combine data science with ethical considerations for solutions that are both technologically innovative and socially responsible -- echoing DataDotOrg's larger commitment to training one million purpose-driven data practitioners by 2032. #DataDrivesImpact #socialimpact
